Sitting in the hot blazing sun, I stretched across my pink lawn chair in the sand, and put my leopard sunglasses back on. It was about 87 degrees today, but it was a great day for the beach. Next to me was my best friend Danny, and around us were a group of friends from school, including Ricky.

I reached over to grab the picnic basket Danny prepared for us. It had ham and swiss cheese sandwiches, oreo cookies, peanut butter with celery sticks, two slices of strawberry cake, and a few drinks like strawberry lemonade and rootbeer sodas were packed in there.

I grabbed a sandwich and bit into it. Yes, I was super hungry. My stomach kept growling on the way here. I haven't filled my stomach since dinner last night. I was too anxious about today.

"Can I have my sandwich or your going to eat that too?" Danny laughed, watching me devour my food like a wolf was hunting for meat.

I playfully slapped his shoulder, then took his sandwich out the basket, handing it to him.

"Next time get your own. " I rolled my eyes while giggling.

"Wait until your done eating." He warned.

"Hey you two love birds. I just finished playing volleyball and I'm exhausted. Would you mind if I get a drink?" A short girl named Mya with light brown hair and dark gray eyes, stood over us panting.

"Have whatever you want. It's extremely hot out here." I offered.

Mya thanked us after grabbing a rootbeer, and running off towards her best friend and boyfriend.

"Ready to get in the water?" A small smile forms from Ricky's mouth as he stands in front of me.

"What?" I questioned.

"I'll take that as yes!" Ricky grinned while picking me up and carrying me towards the water. "How far do you want in the water?"

"Put me down Ricky or I will. ."

"Kiss me?" He raised an eyebrow. He began walking further into the water, as the wave came toward us.

I playfully slapped his shoulder.

Before I could reply to his smart comment, we both were splashed by the huge wave that past us. My hair was soaking wet. It's a good thing I left my hair into a messy ponytail today. Otherwise I would have been pissed at Ricky.

Getting out of the water, I found Danny making a sand castle with some girl I never seen before. She had long black hair braided into a french braid. Her almond small brown eyes glistened in the sun like the stupid sand castle they were making.

Why was I even jealous?

I wanted to be over Danny. For good. But I know in my heart forever, I will always love him more than a friend.

Stepping over the sand castle, I sat right in between them. Yup. I sure did.

"Nice sand castle." I finally said breaking the awkward silence. "Did I interrupt something?"

"Of course not." The girl said bitterly. "I was just leaving anyway. Danny you have my number. Call me later. " she got wiping sand on her shorts. She winked at Danny before walking away.

I kicked the sand castle. Without even thinking about it.

Everyone around me spun around to see the mess I have made. What's the big deal? It was just a dumbass sand castle.

"Why would you destroy me and Emily master piece? I'm really sick of how every girl I ever talk to or hang around you turn into a overprotective jealous girlfriend. You said you were over me. So please just stop!" Danny got up, stalking away.

That was it. I was done with Danny treating me like this!

I ran after him chasing him down. I didn't wait for him to say another word. I grabbed his neck pulling him closer to my body, and pressed my lips onto his. Suprisingly, Danny kissed me back.

He grabbed my waist, and locked tongues with mine. It was the sweetest kiss I ever had. Nothing compared to the one I had with Ricky. It was way better.

Our group of friends gathered around us clapping and cheering. Gosh guys it's not like we just got married! It was just a kiss. Well the best kiss in the world!

It's like life stopped for a second, and we were the last two people on earth. I never wanted to stop kissing. But I didn't want to make out with Danny in front of everyone here.

"It's getting late. We should all head home." Ricky eventually said.

He was right. The sun was going down. And the clouds seemed to be forming into a dark gray.

Danny and I headed to his car putting the picnic basket in the back seat. Our favorite song roared through the speakers. The hills by The Weeknd.

As we headed onto the road, Danny intertwined his fingers with mine, holding my hand. I smiled as I sang along to the lyrics.

This was the best day in my entire life.
