The dance was finally here. I took a shower and put on my silky blue dress.  It had rhinestones on the front in the middle going across. I took a look in the mirror and smiled at myself.  My makeup was all scattered on the counter in front of me. I picked up my light blue eye shadow and red lipstick then left downstairs to my mom's room. She always knew how to apply my makeup better than me. My twin brothers were still at a friend's house for the weekend. My shoes that Tiffany picked out were by the door, I didn't need to trip down the stairs. Not something I would want to do in front of Ricky.

"Mom? I need you to put my makeup on for me please. The dance is in less than a hour. Ricky should be here any second." I opened my mom's room door and heard the shower.

Where was she going tonight? I still haven't talked to her about where she's been going these past two nights. Rolling my eyes I checked my hair out in her mirror by the bed. I had got it done straight by a hair salon this morning.  It looked really pretty down and flowing.

"Sorry babe.  I had to shower. Come sit down on my bed. Wanna get my girl all dolled up for the dance. And your going to need some mascara." My mom chuckled.  She went to her bathroom grabbing her makeup kit.

I wanted her to do whatever she wanted to make me look amazing. I've never felt so pretty in my entire life.  Here I was going to the dance with one of the most popular kids at school.

"Where have you been going lately?"

"I've been going to the bar. Trying to get back out there. I guess. No luck though."

"You will-"

"Shh. Tonight is your night.  Have fun. Don't think too much about me. The boys should be back when you get home. You going to dinner afterwards or something? I would like to talk to all of you at once, but I can wait for the morning."

"Umm I don't know.  We haven't really talked about it...-"

The doorbell rung and my mom patted me on the leg telling me to hurry and put my shoes on.  I got off her bed and ran to the door picking my shoes up and rushing back to my mom's room. She opened the door and I heard Ricky's soft sweet voice filling the halls.

They started talking about the dance and I heard my mom tell him she wants me to have a great time. Don't leave me alone blah blah blah. I took one last look at myself in the mirror and hurried out there. I really didn't need her lecturing him.

"We should go." I grabbed his hand and turned for the door.

"Wait.  Let me get at least a couple pictures." My mom ran to grab her camera.

After she took way more than a couple pictures, I pushed Ricky out the door. We got into his car and off we were to the dance. I could feel myself getting hot already.  Maybe I was a little nervous. At least I had this amazing guy to look forward to dance with.

We got to the dance and he left me to go chat with the football team. I didn't mind though. I looked around and seen Tiffany with some guy I never noticed before. That must be Gary. No wonder Danny didn't know him. He must go to a different school.  She turned around when she felt me staring and smiled at me. Did she really just do that? I smiled back without thinking about it.

Everyone was either hooking up in some corner or groping on the dance floor.  How gross. This was totally not my type of environment. I went to the table and grabbed a cup of a fruit punch.

"Care to dance?" I heard a familiar voice say and I turned around to see Danny grinning.

Wow! He looked amazing. Here he was standing in front of me in a nice white tuxedo and a black tie with black shoes. His hair was neatly pushed back and I could see those beautiful brown eyes.
