Chapter 10 - I'm here

Niall's POV

"Harry, where are you?"

"I'm so sorry Niall".

"It's okay, I'm on my way. Where are you?"

"I'm at mum's house"

"I'm coming Haz, I'll be there soon". I hung up. "Darcy!" She came running in, dressed up as a fairy. I smiled. "We're going to see dad now, okay?" Darcy nodded, excited and I packed clothes and toys for Darcy along with a folded up cot. I packed a small bag for me and out the stuff in the car, buckling Darcy up and started driving. He sounded so broken and hurt. I don't even know why. "Darcy, this going to take a long time so if you are tired just go to sleep, okay?"

"But then daddy will be alone".

"For me Darcy? Please?"

"Okay". I kept my eyes on the road, taking quick glances in the rear view mirror to check on Darcy. She fell asleep half way through the drive. I parked in the driveway, behind Harry's car and got out, getting the cot and Darcy's medicine, knocking on the front door.

"Niall?"

"Yeah. Hi Anne. Ah, can you just watch the car for me?" She nodded and I went up to Harry's room, he was sleeping soundly on the bed. I put her medicine in the fridge and set up Darcy's cot, then ran back down the stairs, carefully getting Darcy out of her seat. I locked the car and figured I could get everything else out in the morning and carefully lay her down, pulling the blanket over her. I went back down the stairs and into the kitchen, sitting down.

"What's going on Anne? I got a call from Harry a few hours ago saying he needs me and he sounded so broken".

"Gemma has cancer. It has spread too far to stop it, she refused any sort of treatment so she is going to die in the next 13 days Niall". I just stared at her, my eyes wide.

"I'm sorry Anne". She nodded.

"I'm glad you're here. Harry hasn't been good Niall. He needs you".

"I didn't know where he was. He just left with a small note for me".

"I know. Why don't you go and sleep? You look buggered". I nodded and walked back to Harry's room. I kicked my shoes off and climbed on the bed, wrapping my arm around Harrys waist and pulling him back into me.

"Niall?"

"I'm here baby. I'm here". He turned around to face me.

"I've missed you". He started to cry. I held him close to me, rubbing his back.

"I've missed you too. It's okay now Harry, it's going to be okay".

"But Gemma-"

"Is going to be okay for another two weeks. Make the most of it Haz". I pushed his hair back from his face and looked into his eyes. "I love you". I whispered and brushed our noses together.

"I'm sorry I left". Harry barely whispered. I kissed his forehead, lingering my lips there for a bit.

"It's okay. Go to sleep Haz. I'm here now".

The sound of a crying scream slowly got louder and louder as I started to wake up. I opened my eyes to see I had Harry held as close as possible to me, he was clutching my t shirt with his hand. I sighed and carefully removed myself from the bed, walking over to the cot and pulling Darcy up, walking down the stairs. It was deadly quiet and slightly dark out. I guessed it was still early morning. I looked at the time on the microwave to see it was two in the morning. I sighed.
