Nolan's POV
I trudged through the ever so pleasant rain that decided to pour as I made my way to the ball field. I don't know what Mason has planned to make it up to me, but I guess I'll just have to find out.
As I got to the field I noticed all of the lights were on, in the pouring rain. Which never happens, they normally turn the lights off and high tail themselves out. Besides there's no practice. It's not like I forgot about Mason's thing. It's just why would he turn the lights on. Better yet, who let him have the key?
"Okay, I know you're really weirded out right now. Probably wondering if I did something illegal to get the keys but I promise I didn't." I let out a laugh looking at Mason, on the pitchers mound, soaking wet.
"Are you insane, Dye?!" I threw my hands up, dropping my bag in the stands, walking onto the field.
"Maybe, possibly, most likely." He spit out water after each word.
"God, what are we even doing here?!" At this point most girls would've complained about their hair, which is another reason they didn't stay with Mason long. His apologies normally went this way.
"We, are going to dance in the rain. And before I get the whole 'Mason I'm not into this', hear me out, I messed up. Majorly. Besides this is on a baseball diamond, and I may have gotten my sister and her friend, to come play music." He shrugged as I saw Maddie and Tae, Tae being Mason's sister. They're a country duo, and probably my favorite people in the world, after Mason. He pulled out all the stops, knowing I couldn't say no.
"God, Dye! You just had to make sure I wouldn't say no!" He flashed a smile, and walked over to me, pulling me into the infield.
"I had to apologize correctly, and as girly as this whole dancing the rain may be, I'm doing it on the baseball diamond, which could get me in some minor trouble." I shook my head as he placed his hand on my waist, and I rested my hand on his shoulder. Sadly, well maybe not always, but our parents made us go to some formal dance with them, and we learned.
"You're such an idiot Dye."
"I'm your idiot."
"Sadly, very sadly"
"Not really." He laughed as the two blondes stopped playing.
"Yes really." I ran my hands thorough my waved hair, and smiled up at him.
"Not really!" Mason picked me up around my waist and threw me over his shoulder, spinning me around.
"Mason!" I let out a very girly shriek, much to my dismay, and slapped his back.
"Nope!" He popped the P and laughed.
"Mason please!" He put me down only because he heard a truck starting.
"I think that would be our cue to go." He laughed and grabbed my hand pulling me along. As we passed the stands I grabbed my bag.
"Phew, that was a workout." Mason chuckled, pulling out of his parking spot. My phone buzzed as we left the school.
