The first several weeks were rough after your departure. You missed the familiarity of being at home despite walking on eggshells. There were several times that you thought about handing the workload to someone else but always came to your senses at the last minute. It killed you to be so away from Anil but you knew it was best for both yourself and Anil. Your heartache didn't disappear over night but it did dwindle down with each passing day.
Loyal as ever, Prick would keep you updated with the latest gossip. She told you about everyone and anyone with the exception of Anil and Pin. The few times that you just let yourself grieve a little, you were tempted to write to Prick and ask about your wife. You always got to the point of finishing the letter but you never sent them. The stack of letters were buried deep in your suitcase and no matter how much you wanted to throw them away, you kept them. It was a rough reminder that Anil wasn't yours to begin with. You were just someone in the way of standing between her true love.

Almost a full year had gone from your departure of home and you had been able to push Anil to the back of your mind. No longer were you reminded of her with the little things. You thought if you could last just a few more months away from her that you would be able to finally forgot about your love for her but that was ruined one night when you were handed a letter from her.
You stayed up late as you stared at the letter, unsure of opening in fear that all your progress would be erased by just a few words. Your heart raced at the thought of what lay inside but you didn't dare open it. For Anil to send a letter to you, you knew something grave had happened but you weren't sure what. After spending a whole day debating with yourself, you ripped the envelope and began to read.
Princess (y/n),
I must apologize for such informal communication but this is of urgent matter. Princess Patt wishes to marry off Pin. As I am writing this letter, Princess Patt is doing the same so you grant her the request of marrying Pin to Kueakiat. Since we were married, I have never requested anything from you. If you help us in this manner, I will be a better wife to you. Please do not grant Princess Patt her request, I beg of you.
yours,
Anil
Your heart felt like it was beating out of your chest as you reread the letter over and over again. Never in a million years would you have expected what was written inside. This had been the opportunity you had been waiting for since your wedding. Taking a moment to gather your thoughts, you wrote back.
Princess Anil,
I will return at once.
Y/n
Your letter was simple but it was all you could muster to write. You had a lot to think about.

You nearly fell back as Prick jumped into your arms upon leaving the car.
"Oh, Princess (y/n)! I missed you so much! Please don't leave me again!" You held her, quietly laughing to yourself at her reaction. Prick eventually seems to realize what she had done and climbs off of you. "I apologize, Princess (y/n). I got a little too excited about your arrival."
"That's alright, Prick. I missed you too."
Your reunion is cut short when you hear someone clearing their throat. Surprised by Prick, you hadn't even realized Anil and Pin were part of your welcome party. You weren't sure how to feel when your eyes locked with Anil.
"I didn't realize the two of you were close."
You give Anil a small smile, unsure of how to even respond.
