*a few hours later*
Zuko's POV"Zuko, have you ever thought about having a child?"
"No Mai, first of all, we aren't married, second of all I don't want any children."
"So let's get married!"
"Mai, I'm not ready. Didn't you hear me? I don't want children!" I screamed. I have had about enough of Mai. Right about now I wish the Avatar and his friends were here.
"Fine! When you decide you want to start a family, don't come ask me!" Mai screamed back as she stormed off.
Just then I hear a knock at my bedroom door.
"Fire Lord Zuko; you have a message from Sokka of the water tribe." He bowed and handed me the letter.
Zuko,
We need your help, Sokka was shot in the chest with an arrow. I tried to heal him, and he woke up. But he is running a massive fever. We think the arrow may have been poisoned. We need Mai for that part.
We need you because... well we kind of ran away from my wedding. We need a place to hide while things settle down at the South Pole. If you could, meet us at Keoshi Island as soon as possible. We will be waiting for you there. Bring Mai.
-Katara"Guards, ready my ship. I'm going to Keoshi Island. Find Lady Mai as well. I need to speak with her." I ordered.
Katara's POV
"How long do you think until he gets the message?" I asked.
"Supposedly a few hours. *cough cough*" Sokka wheezed.
"Aang how far is Keoshi?"
"We should be there in a few minutes!"
Oh La, please keep Sokka alive. I don't know what I'd do without him.
Third person
Once the Avatar and his friends reached Keoshi Island, they were greeted with smiles and hugs.
"Chief Kunon, my brother Sokka is injured. Do you mind if we stay here while he heals?" Katara asked.
"Why of course! You helped our village, so we will help you." The chief replied.
"By the way, the fire lord is coming as well, he should be here soon." Toph added.
"Very well. Right this way."
Chief Kunon led them to a big house on the other side of the village.
"We don't this big of a house to stay in." Katara stated humbly.
"We built it in case the avatar and his friends ever returned to our peaceful village. I insist you must stay here." The chief pleaded.
"Thank you, Chief Kunon." Katara said. The she helped Sokka into the house, and to a bedroom with a large bed.
She began a healing session to help ease some of the pain, and hopefully start the healing process.Zuko's POV
It took some convincing to get Mai to come along to help Katara, but I finally convinced her. It probably didn't help that we had just had an argument.
"Fire Lord Zuko, a message has come for you. It's from chief Hakota." I nodded and took the letter from the guard.
Fire Lord Zuko,
If you find my Daughter- she will probably seek you out first- please take care of her.
She ran from her wedding. I will let her tell you the details, that is if she wishes to.
-Cheif Hakota
"Hounds man how far until we get to Keoshi Island?"
"We will be there in a few hours." He replied.
Well, I better get some sleep before we get there.
A few hours later
Katara's POV
I was pacing back and forth the living room of our house, waiting for Zuko to get here.
That's when I hear a knock on the door.
"I'll get it!" Aang yelled, jumping up from the couch he was sitting on.
"Hello your fireyness! It's been too long!" Aang said as he bowed.
"Aang it's only been a few weeks." He walked past Aang, and came over to me with Mai behind him looking as bland as ever.
"How's Sokka doing." He asked me.
"Not good, Mai could you come with me?"
"Sure, whatever." She said, and I rolled my eyes at her.
Once we got to Sokka's room, we headed over to his bed.
"Where was he shot." Mai questioned.
"In the chest just below his heart." I answered.
"Take off your shirt."
"What! Why?" Sokka asked. Not wanting to take his shirt off in front of Mai.
"I can't help you if I can't see the injury."
"Sokka just take off your shirt." I said.
He did as he was told and pulled off his shirt.
"Rhododendron"
"Is that the poison used?" I asked.
"Yes."
"How do we heal him?" I said getting irritated that she won't just tell me without me asking her.
"You need to feed him berries from the Robis bush. That should heal him." After she said that she walked away.
"Well, at least we know how to heal you." I smiled.
Zuko's POV
I was waiting for Katara to come out of Sokka's room so I could talk to her. The first to come out was Mai.
"Can I go now Zuko? I don't want to spend anymore time with these peasants." Mai growled.
"They are not peasants. As long as they are my friends, they are to be treated like royalty. Do you understand!" I hissed.
"Whatever."
"The ship leaves at dusk, you'll be on it. My uncle is in charge until I get back." I said.
Finally Katara walked out of the room.
"Katara, can I talk to you?" I asked.
"Sure, what do you want to talk about?"
"Can we go somewhere more private?" I asked.
"Yeah sure, we'll go to my room." She said.
Once we got there I sat on her bed next to her.
"Why did you run from your wedding?" I asked.
"I guess the question was bound to surface." She mumbled.
"If you don't want to tell me you don't have to." I reassured.
"No, you deserve to know. You came all the way here to help Sokka and I. You deserve an explanation." She sighed.
"When I got back to the southern water tribe, my father was waiting there for me. With another man. His name is Kormak. My dad told me I was going to marry that man. Being the obedient daughter that I am, I told him I would. But then I was having second thoughts about it. One night Kormak came into my room, and climbed on top of me. He started to kiss my neck and was pulling down my dress. I panicked and Sokka heard me. He came rushing into my room, but by the time he got there, Kormak was gone. I told him it was just a bad dream. He went back to his own room. Kormak then came back into my room, and put his hand over my mouth. He told me if I ever told anyone about what he was going to do to me, he would kill me." Katara was shaking now. I pulled her into a hug, and she continued the story.
"Every night he would come into my room and try to rape me. I was able to fight him off. My brother found out, but I told him not to tell dad. After some convincing he finally agreed. The day of the wedding, just before I was going to say my vows. I ran.
Away from Kormak, away from my dad, away from my tribe. Kormak had grabbed a bow, and was about to kill me, but Sokka jumped in the way of the arrow. Apparently the arrow was poisoned." She finished her story, and was crying now. I held her close.
"Did he ever, you know, actually rape you?" I asked.
"No. Thankfully." I smiled at least she still had her innocence.
"I will never let that happen to you again, Katara. I swear."A/N so at the moment not many people are reading this book, but I still felt like I should update it so the people who do read it and might start reading it will have a few chapters to read.
Hope you liked the chapter!
