"CAN YOU shut up?" Luna walked over to the small table, standing beside her brother and glaring at Clarisse. They had been arguing for, what felt like, hours and Luna's headache was only getting worse. She glanced down at the map on the table, giving up on reading it when the words jumbled up on the parchment.

"Oh, she speaks." Clarisse remarked mockingly.

Luna shot back, "Sorry for not wanting to talk to you after you tried to blow up my brother because I didn't give you fucking coordinates."

"Well, you actually blew up my army. Remember?" Clarisse replied smartly, "So I should be the one ignoring you."

Luna cooed sarcastically, "You're bitching 'cause I ignored you?" She corrected sassily, "And I didn't blow up your already-dead army, I vaporised them."

"We could've crossed the Sea of Monsters by now." Clarisse corrected quickly. She added, gesturing to the map, "We're fighting Charybdis—"

Percy sighed, "This is so stupid."

"You're so stupid." Clarisse retorted.

The boy called to the girl who was climbing down the ladder, "Annabeth, will you decide who's more stupid?"

Clarisse argued, "Why does she get to decide? This is my—"

"Your Quest." Percy mused, "We know." He explained to Annabeth, "I showed her where we're going, but she keeps saying we either have to fight the Scylla or... C—"

"Charybdis." Clarisse said knowingly.

"I know how to pronounce it." Percy shot back.

And, to the siblings' surprise, Annabeth spoke up, "Clarisse is right. To pass into the Sea of Monsters, you have choose. To face either the claws of Scylla or the whirlpool of Charybdis."

Clarisse taunted, "In your face, Jackson."

Luna asked, "Why aren't we just sailing around Scylla and Charybdis? It'd save us the ammo." But Clarisse scoffed out a laugh to herself. Luna glared at her, shifting her eyes from the map, "Something funny?"

"Yeah," Clarisse mused, "You're so stupid, Red." And Luna's glare only became sterner because it was the first time Annabeth and Percy had heard that nickname. When Luna looked back down at the map, feeling her face flush a light pink, she could see Percy and Annabeth exchanging a look of confusion out of the corner of her eyes.

Despite their confusion, Annabeth continued explaining, "The Sea of Monsters doesn't work like that. If you try and sail around them, they'll appear in your path again." She asked, "What's your plan, Clarisse?"

The girl explained, "My cannons are loaded with monster-piercing ammo, celestial bronze. Scylla sits up high on a cliff, so she's out of range. But, Charybdis is a sitting duck— that makes her my prey."

"And, if that doesn't work, this ship gets crushed, and we get eaten." Annabeth reasoned logically.

"You got a better idea?" Clarisse retorted.

"Scylla. That's what Odysseus chose. And he made it through." Annabeth replied, "Though six of his crew didn't. Each taken by one of her six tentacles, keeping her occupied and allowing him to pass."
