Jimin gazed out of the limo's window getting further away from their place. The darkness is soon replaced by the z level security following the limo on all sides like a celebrity convoy. taehyung is already looking up in the sky through the window, a chopper following them. another security clearance from a top view. Looks exaggerated but a necessity.
Alex looked briefly in the back from his front seat. he could tell every soul in there is just as exhausted as them. "beta team 1, come in" Alex spoke into his walkie talkie.
"Cleared for the next 20 miles, beta team 1 report time record-" the conversation went back forth the constant security check detail made the members impossible to sleep.
"one hour from destination, team prepare for security clearance of vehicle PP2845. SQUAD GAMMA, prepare for take charge in 50 miles. SQUAD BETA prepare for Clear, over"
Alex phone buzzed making him sigh. he picked up the call rubbing his temples. He is speaking in lower volume trying to keep the conversation discrete. Yoongi observed the phone model, it is an encrypted keypad phone, similar to the ones Ian and Ellie used to use occasionally.
The walkie talkie went off for its regular check again that has been happening every ten minutes. "Just a moment--" Alex turned back once again streching his free hand out to Ellie giving her the walkie talkie. " Bean, take over"
Ellie grabbed the walkie talkie. she could feel the subtle glances of everybody on her. taking a deep breathe She hit the button to speak " OLIVIA GREY TAKING CHARGE, REPORT YOUR CURRENT STATUS, OVER." She noticed tae sitting adjacent looking at her with those same longing eyes he had when he first saw her today at the scene. They haven't spoken ever since. they both kept staring like just their eyes speaking to each other.
"20 miles to the destination, chopper prepare for your exit over," Ellie spoke into the radio. she got distracted with a tiny beep. Jungkook being the curious one is trying out the features in the limo. the water slot opened with a lot of options with sparkling water. he was just amazed how he could just grab one like in his home.
Ellie suddenly cleared her throat "guys, --" she grabbed everybodys attention before continuing. "Jammers will be activated in five miles, you cant use your mobile phones for atime being for security reasons. you will be given encrypted devices to use. so please do your essential tasks before we enter the zone".
they all shared another confused swamped look ultimately looking at Namjoon for further orders. Namjoon let out a weary breath clasping his hands together, his lips puled into a thin line. Ellie could sense the awkwardness and unaddressed feeling in that space.
"I know im--"
"No, let me speak" Namjoon cut off Ellie drawing everybodys attention.
"my friends, do you what is happening right now? anybody?" he looked at everyone for a response but its a clear silence. " exactly, we don't know what is happening, it is hard to trust you people Ellie" Namjoon turned towards her. Ellie suddenly felt very self consious in that space all of a sudden.
"I'm trying to blame you here Ellie, but this is alot in just a day. We are just following orders from somebody we don't know our whole lives. we are risking our everything now. But we are here with you coming to your place, because we know there is something bigger than we all can imagine. this is frustrating Ellie, yet we choose to come. for our very own brother Jhope." Jin softly squeeze namjoon's hands supporting him.
"We are already involved in this big thing and went too far to back out now. so we're gonna consent with matters we don't still have any idea about, but we're gonna need answers Ellie, we can't just--" Namjoon took a deep breath of worry not knowing what to say.
" Joonie, I promise, --"
"You guys will not be kept in the dark, -- you will know soon--"
" thanks for telling us dear" jin expressed forcing a smile before everyone fished their phones doing their last minute checks.
Ellie could sense the 'how much more of this nonsense ' questions in their thoughts but the truth is this is just the beginning.
"SQUAD BETA PREPARING FOR EXIT, PLEASE CONFORM CLEARANCE" Ellie peeked outside the window confirming the chopper is no longer in the view.
"SQUAD GAMMA, APPROACHING TUNNELS IN 5 MILES,PREPARE FOR TAKE OVER" Ellie sighed pressing channel two .
"SQUAD BETA, YOU'RE CLEARED, OVER" suddenly the limo slowed down there is a motorcycle came into the view trying to match the car came to a very brief stop. the man in blue uniform squad beta said his solidarity and hop on to the motorcycle, the guy on the motorcycle wearing an orange uniform replaced the blue uniform.
"SQUAD GAMMA, TAKING OVER." The man over driver seat spoke. Taehyung was observing every move every breath of Ellie. he watched the cars following took a detour and the guy on the motorcycle left along with them. how much power she holds. directing two squads. all these strong Men just yield for her command. who is she even at this point. the thoughts were deep.
"APPROACHING TUNNELS, NEED CLEARANCE FOR ACTION," The radio clicked, but Ellie didn't move. She stopped dead. The world went hollow, leaving only the sharp hiss of the comms in her ear.
She locked her fingers together and squeezed. She squeezed until her knuckles turned white, her hands shaking under the pressure. She heard every word. She knew they were waiting. But she stood there, frozen and silent, unable to break the sudden, heavy cage of her own skin.
"JAMMERS ACTIVATED,OVER." the car came to a complete stop right infront of tunnels.
"WAITING FOR COMMAND, OVER" the sound echoed from the radio. everything is too silent for everyone's liking. all attention on Ellie waiting to speak up. suddenly a hand stretched out from the front seat grabbing the walkie-talkie from Ellie's Hand. "it's alright Bean," Alex smiled warmly before switching his demeanor in a second before speaking into the radio.
New cars swung into view, leading the way into the maw of the first tunnel. Ellie shifted her gaze to J-Hope, her eyes tight with a mounting, unspoken tension. As they cleared the darkness and burst back into the light, her heart dropped into her stomach.
The tunnels were behind them now. Open land stretched out before the convoy, and everyone pressed closer to the glass, scanning the horizon.
A sharp gasp from Jimin shattered the silence. The sound hit Ellie like a physical blow, sending a fresh jolt of adrenaline through her. She was visibly trembling now, a thin sheen of sweat breaking out across her forehead.
"Is that the—" Jimin started, his voice trailing off in disbelief. "Is that the palace?"
