Back at the house, Diamond and Princess greeted us like they sensed war in the air.
Diamond jumped up, almost knocking Lalo down.
"HEY—HEY! I AIN'T FOOD!" he screamed, hopping behind the sofa.
Princess sniffed him once, then barked.
Lalo crossed his arms.
"See? This why I don't do animals. They got too many opinions."
Raquel actually laughed — the first real laugh since the bookstore.
But her smile faded as she turned to moms.
"So what's the plan?"
Moms didn't blink.
"War."
Eli brought out blueprints of Oakland streets, warehouses, and route maps.
"He's sending hitters. Probably already in the city."
Lalo paused mid-chew.
"Then shouldn't we, like... leave?"
Moms shook her head.
"You can't run from a man who owns the roads."
Raquel leaned over the map.
"We hit first."
I watched her transform — fear melting into fury, hurt into strategy.
Moms nodded slowly.
"You ready to bleed for this?"
Raquel locked eyes with her.
"I'm ready to end this."
