~Sylvie's point of view~

I hold back tears as I sit in my room. Staring at the last picture the three of us had together. A smile sneaks its way onto my face as I remember that day.

*flashback*
It's the first day of summer and I just finished elementary school. I bounce in my usual spot by the window waiting for daddy to come home. I'm wearing my one piece since he promised me he'd take me swimming. I squeal when I see the familiar faded blue truck pull in. "DADDY'S HOME" I scream. Mom chuckles. She has gotten used to my puppy like antics whenever my father cames home. "Was that my little siren I heard?" My father says as he walks in the door. I instantly cling to his leg. My parents look down at me before looking at each other and laughing.

~one boring car ride later~

I bolt out of the car once we get to our secret swimming spot. I stop just before the water. "Go ahead little siren" my father says like usual. I always pause before the water. It's like a game I play with him. I squeal when I feel his hands on my waist and my feet in the air. I scream just before plummeting into the water. When I pop up I can hear my father laughing but can only see the water webbing my brown hair in front of my face. "Where'd my sweet little siren go?" I wave my arms in response. "I'm over here daddy" he picks me up and carries me over to mom. I pull the right side of the curtain in front of my face to see my mom holding up a camera directed at the three of us. "Say cheese" she says before snapping the picture.

*current moment*

I pin the picture back on my wall. I sit back and listen to the awkward silence that has fallen over the house. As I look around my room I remember the random dance parties, the stories he'd tell me, how I tried to join him after he left. Tears run down my cheeks.
