"Maybe It doesn't have to make sense, but..." I took a breath and looked into those deep blue eyes. Some emotion swimming inside them steeled some resolve in me. "I... I love you too." I decided out loud. "And... I think we can try this. But, the pack will figure out who I am, and then-" My words were cut off as he came closer, his lips mere breaths away from mine.
He seemed to realize it as well, and he started to back off. I grabbed his shirt, keeping him close. "Don't go. Please?" Just then the doorbell rang. "Have somebody else get it. Just, please don't go." I realized how desperate that made me sound, but to be honest I WAS desperate. I had steeled my resolve, but I wasn't sure I could do it again.
"Okay." I released a breath I didn't know I'd been holding. He looked back towards me, and the adoration in his eyes was back, along with the fire. He took a breath, and then were were kissing. I kissed him back, and the world around us stopped. Time froze, my worries gone. It was just me, and Mason. Frozen in time. After a minute (or an hour, like I said time stopped for a while), we pulled away. I looked up at those amazing blue eyes. A girl could stare into those eyes for hours and not even notice a second had gone by.
I took a deep, shaky breath. I opened my mouth to say something, but couldn't think of anything to say. Mason laughed. "Me too." He shook his head and pecked me on the lips. I flushed. His voice was once again lowered to a whisper. "I told you I loved you. You said you loved me to."
"That I did," I replied with a smile. I started whispering, too. "I did. I told you I loved you. And, it wasn't a spur of the moment decision. I think... I think my wolf knew. She tried to tell me, but I wouldn't listen. But now I am. I love you, Mason Howard. With every ounce of my being. I can't change that. But now... I mean you can't make me pack."
"Speaking of which, there's something I need to tell you..." Anticipation lurked in his eyes. "That's what the ceremony was for." He backed up, thinking that I was going to be mad.
"Come back." I said, then realized my mistake. "Please..." He sat closer to me and laughed. Surprise changed my every feature.
"You are the only one, I think, that could say that and get away with it." It was then that I completely realized how deep our love for each other went. Could this really last forever?
