(This picture is literally like my favorite they both look so cuddly and cute and I can't even)
Phil stared himself down in the mirror. This was it. This was the day he was going to actually talk to Dan about last year.
A knock on the door startled him out of his thoughts, and he opened the door to a nervous Dan. His confidence disappeared in the brown of Dan's eyes.
Dan looked at Phil nervously, unsure what to expect. He'd only witnessed Phil on one hunt, and even then it was for maybe ten minutes as he held off the ghost attacking Dan. He hitched his bag further up his shoulder.
"You ready?" He asked Phil, looking at his partners bag at his feet.
Phil shook his head, clearing his thoughts, and grabbed his bag off the floor. "Um, yeah. Let's go." He said, looking down the hallway, Dan nodded, and the two entered the main bar.
Zoella was behind the counter, chatting with Alfie. She noticed the two boys and waved them off, wishing them luck on their job.
Her pug, Nala, rushed up to Dan. He smiled and pet the small puppy, but Phil's heart completely melted. He picked up the dog and cuddled it, then, unwillingly, put it back down. Dan rolled his eyes to himself, chuckling. What a badass; he loves dogs.
Dan slipped into the drivers seat of his 1964 Chevy Impala and tossed his bag in the back seat. Phil climbed in shotgun, and Dan pressed his foot to the gas, causing Phil to jerk violently backwards.
"I'm not sure I want you driving." He said, hurrying to do up his seatbelt. "If the demons don't get me, your driving will." Dan chuckled and switched on the radio, playing some KPop. Phil stared at him. "Where are we, Japan?"
Dan rolled his eyes. "It's Korea, and no, we're not." He made a sharp right, sending Phil into the door. "Now, I was thinking of heading to the library, seeing what we could get on why all these demons are here."
"If we even make it there alive," Phil muttered under his breath. He gripped the passenger seat to save his life... Literally. "I thought you said the whole town was infested. How are we going to even stay alive in there?" He asked Dan.
"We bring in a flask of holy water and a gun. Won't kill them, but it'll slow them down." Dan said, turning into the parking lot and hitting the brakes. Phil jerked forwards, almost hitting the dashboard.
He let out a breath. "Next time, I drive." Dan snorted. As if he would let Phil drive.
Dan hopped out of the car and opened his trunk, where he kept all his weapons. He handed Phil a revolver, and took another one for his one, securing it in the waistband of his jeans. He grabbed a flask of holy water and threw one at Phil, who placed it in his inside jacket pocket.
Dan nodded towards the door, and Phil put up a thumbs up as the walked casually towards the library doors.
Dan reached for the handle, and with a heavy pull it opened. Phil nodded his thanks and creeped inside.
The halls were eerily quiet for the middle of the day. Phil walked in between two shelves, and searched for a town history. He supposed he could always ask Zoe and Alfie, or any hunter for that matter.
As he came to this conclusion, he turned to face another person.
"Why hello there, son." A middle aged, dark skinned woman stood behind him. Phil jumped, startled. He looked at the woman carefully. Was she a demon? "Do you need anything?"
Phil searched for Dan, but couldn't seem to find him. "No, actually, I was just about to go..." He said, looking around for Dan. Now would be a really great time.
His eyes returned to the woman, and her deep brown eyes turned to black. "Nonsense. You should stay for a while." She smiled her demonic smile and Phil's eyes widened. She reached for his throat, but then all of a sudden backed away, sizzling. Phil felt someone grab his arm, tugging him away from her.
"Phil, let's go!" Dan yelled, and Phil stumbled, catching up to Dan. A few more wicked eyed demons came in front of them, and Dan pulled them both for a halt. Looking around, Dan realized they were surrounded. They stood back to back, the hunters looking at the circle of demons around them.
The woman Phil had spoken to walked inside the circle, and looked at the boys. "Stay awhile, sweetie." She said. She touched their foreheads, and within seconds they both collapsed, asleep.
The demon woman stared at the circle of demons. "What are you looking at? Bring 'em down!" She ordered, and with that, the boys were transported to the library basement, unconscious.
