You punched a kid! Mayla! How could you?? This is so unlike you!
Well sorry! But they were being rude to Ritchie an' you!
That still gives you no right to knock them out cold!
I mentally argued with myself.
"You ok Ritchie?"
"Huh? Ok yea, but are ye ok? I mean y'er hand?"
I looked at my left fist, it was bruised an' it did hurt a little, but I was ok.
"I'm fine Ritchie."
"Thanks. For uh, sticking up for me."
I smiled. "Your welcome."
--------------------
The rest of the day no one bothered Ritchie nor me.
"Well ye sure scared everyone May." Paul looked around.
"Yea, but it shows them right. They shouldn't pick on Ritchie like that."
"Well ye either May." Ritchie piped in.
"Well maybe, but I care about you two before me."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As I was walking towards my house, alone,-Ritchie an' Paul had stuff to do- I heard a voice;
"'Ey pretty bird."
I looked behind me to see John.
"Oh hullo John, you gave me a fright."
"Well that was quite the show ye put on today." He said smiling.
"Oh yea? Well I 'ave a lot more where that came from." I said putting in a mean face.
"Woah there! Don't get y'er knickers in a twist, I was just sayin!" He said putting his hands up.
"Well just watch y'er mouth or you'll end up like your friend." I snapped.
"Sorry! I was just sayin, I've never seen a bird stand up for Richard, let alone anyone before, it's alway the guys for the birds. Are ye two together?"
"Oh. Oh no. We are just friends, yea sure he is cute, but I can't date him, not yet anyway. Plus, what about Paul?"
"Oh Paul? He already got himself a bird of his own."
"He does?" I asked looking quite sad.
"Oh yea! He 'as LOTS of birds, runnin all over 'im!"
"But he only got one at a time tho right?"
"Yea, but they don't last long."
"Oh."
"Well this is me 'ouse, I'll see ye later may!" He called as he jumped his fence into his yard.
He doesn't seem as bad as Paul says. But what John said. Was that true? Maybe I shouldn't like Paul, maybe Ritchie is the better choice, if Paul goes from girl to girl. Oi I don't know.
My mind was racing when I walked thru my door. My mom was cleaning the kitchen, an' my dad was, I'm guessing, at his 'well paying job' the one he made us move from America for. Ugh.
"'Ello sweetie, how was school."
"Just gear mom, I met new friends an' I punched a kid, in the face."
"Ye did what??"
"Well mother, I met this lonely kid named Richard, an' he is my  best friend, an' he was getting picked on, they picked on me to, so I punched him." I shrugged, "no big deal really."
She grabbed my left hand.
"Oh my! Look at these bruises!"
"Mom! I'm fine."
"Ye need ice."
"I need sleep, let me go."
She released.
I went up to me room an' flung myself into my bed.
Ugh! I wonder what tomorrow's gonna be like. No bullies. I'm guessing. Everyone will probably be scared of me, and whatever.
I kinda just drifted off to sleep.
------------------
I woke up to my dad shaking me.
"May. May!"
"Oi! What? What time is it?"
"Late. Are ye hungry?"
"No I just want to sleep."
"Ok goodnight."
An' that was the last I heard from them.
