Chapter 2

authors note: since we are super nice to y’all, we decided to make this chapter longer than we intended it to be. At first, we weren’t going to introduce ANY new characters, so we decided to add two characters! :D But in this chapter, we wanted to add more tension between Julia and Hayden.

also, we are sorry that chapter one on the table of contents is Please Don't take Me. Our apologies

enjoy xxx

Am I dead?

That was the first question that went through my head. I was stuck in an endless dark grey dream. I tried to run, searching for a white light they say you see when you’re dying. I continued to run until I saw Quinn. She gave me a toothy grin, but that was soon replaced by a scream of terror. My kidnapper ran up to her and held up a gun to Quinn’s head. My jaw dropped in horror.

“Anyone but Quinn,” I whispered, “ Anyone but Quinn”

My kidnapper used his thumb to pull the hammer down, cocking the gun. Quinn started to cry. I started to run in a dead sprint to save my bestfriend and I tried to run and knock the gun out of his hand, but I was too late. He pulled the trigger and Quinn’s body fell to the ground. I fell down to my knees and burying my head into my hands.

“Anyone but Quinn,” I cried,” Anyone but Qui-”

I woke up from my dream to the sound of the roaring of trains.  I wasn’t dead, nor was Quinn. I was covered in sweat and panting. I had no idea where I was. I had duct tape covering my mouth and a black pillow case over my head.  I felt trapped and claustrophobic. My hands were tied behind my back and my ankles were tied together. The rope dug into my flesh making it burn like crazy.  I tried to look around my surroundings and I realized that I was lying in the trunk of a car. I was trying to ignore the memories from the previous day that tried to entered into my mind.

It was just a dream, Quinn is okay,  It was just a dre-

My thoughts were over when the car hit a speed bump and my head banged into the top of the tiny trunk. That was when my memories were flooding back to me.

I was kidnapped. I lost my best friend. I lost my mother. I lost everything that was important to me.

I groaned loudly and the car jerked to a stop. I was thrust upwards once again launching my head up and then back up then down. Hard. I heard the slamming of car doors then the trunk compartment was opened. I was grabbed into a bridal position and was lifted up into the air. Then the trunk door slammed close. The person carrying me began to walk and two other men went on each side of the man. I could hear the faint sound of my kidnapper to my right and an unknown voice to my left.

He has people in it with him.

Through the bag on my head, I tried to look around and see the landscape surroundings. I saw nothing. Not a single tree, just abandoned buildings and the bright sun.

“She’s a frisky one, ain’t she?” I heard my kidnapper say.

“Mmhmm,” they men muttered.

“Are we there yet?” I heard the man carrying me pouted.

“Just a half mile up this trail and we will be there,” My kidnapper snorted.

I couldn’t stay here for a half mile, I was starting to feel light headed. A black pillow case with 80°F weather isn’t the best thing to be wearing. The men continued to walk for a while until I heard a door creak open and the sun stopped blinding me. I was thrown down onto a hard, concrete floor.
