Chapter 4
I woke up from a grey, endless dream. Once again, I dreamed of nothing. I turned my body towards the side to face Olivia. She muttered in her sleep although I thought she was telling me something.
“What?” I tried to speak but my throat was dry, head aching. I looked around our dark bedroom and everyone was asleep. I sat up in my bed, and pushed the yellow covers to the side. I sat there for a few moments before I stood up silently and dragged my feet into the kitchen. I need water, I kept telling myself. I searched for a solid five minutes for a cup to put my water in, until I gave up and stuck my mouth under the faucet. It felt amazing drinking water after being dehydrated for the past twenty-four hours. I slurped down the liquid and moved away from the faucet as I sighed in satisfaction. I fully stood up and wiped the water off of my upper lip. Turning my body, I started to go back to my bedroom until I heard voices coming in from the outside. I jerked my body and silently walked over to the screen door, I saw two figures standing outside. One, a girl who had long hair that flowed in the slight breeze, and another a boy. The two intertwined their hands together and looked deeply at each other. I slid the screen door open to see what they were up to, the girl who, as I got closer I realized, was unmistakably Brittany. She leaned forward and gave the boy a kiss on the lips for a few seconds then turned to look at me. She squealed in fake delight, a sound I have gotten used to thanks to being around wannabe populars for the past year or so. I groaned internally, I'm just getting a bad vibe from this chick. I continued walking toward her with an equally fake, and forced smile. I can now make out who the boy of this couple is and my stomach dropped as soon as I saw his face. Thomas. I shook my head to get rid of the jealousy seeping through my veins. He obviously likes her, I'm ok with that, I don't even know him. He’s a stranger. I tell myself with a smile. Plus, I have Ben who is probably searching high and low-
"Hey girl! How are you?! OMG! I love your outfit! Help me go pick out my clothes for tomorrow!" She exclaimed fakely. She moved her hand from Thomas’ and walked up to me. She grabbed my wrist, but before dragging me away she spins around, "Thomas, we are gonna have girl talk! Don't wait up!" She giggles, and I try to force one too but it sounded like I was choking on the air. She waved him off and dragged me inside.
She guided me past our bedroom into a door hidden next to the boy’s bedroom. Once inside we entered the living room she shoved me onto the brown, leather couch and pulled on one of the ugliest, meanest looks I have ever seen.
"Listen up you little slut! You may have Liam and Thomas, and well, just about everyone here fooled but I can see right through you!" She paused and paced a few strides before spinning back at me hissing in anger. Practically screeching, she continues, "You are a lying, selfish little skank bag who is gonna play all innocent and sweet until you can make your move!" Suddenly her voice dropped to a low serious voice, "I know you have a thing for him but he is mine!" She said jerking her thumb back at the window indicating Thomas who was still standing on the patio outside, then points at her self. "With your looks, I guess I don't have to worry about him choosing you over me cause after all, you are an ugly little whiny brat, with frizzy hair and a body that looks like it is a freaking blimp! How much do you eat anyway?" She sneered, I could hardly contain the tears that collected in my eyes. I have always been embarrassed about my weight, in fact, I'm so self conscious about myself, that before I met Quinn I had the highest, and thickest wall built up around me that my best friend locked down with ease. Now, hearing this girl talk, I can almost feel it physically growing back up. I took a deep breath trying to ignore the burning behind my eyes willing me to cry.
