You can't escape the horrors of the night, the whispers in the darkness, the beady eyes that keep a close gaze on you. They're always there, and they never leave. Only those brave enough have been able to witness the terrors in the night that are invisible to the naked eye, and those people have managed to share their stories, though it took some time, which now live in this very book.

Once you have flipped this page, there is no going back. It doesn't matter how brave you think you are, or how big your ego is; they will tear you down. By flipping this page, you are exposing yourself to the demons underneath your bed, the dark silhouettes hiding in your closet, and the shadows that hide in the back of your mind.

By reading these stories, you are giving yourself the one thing that the demons love; fear. No matter how much you try to hide it, you will find yourself becoming more alert, you will start to notice the little things that hide in the corner of your eye, and you will start to realise that the world we live in is nothing as it seems; you have to look closely to see the empty shadows, and the gloomy figures, just to be sure you weren't seeing things, no matter where you are.

And whatever you do, always try to read these pages in broad daylight. You don't know what the night may bring you if you leave it too late. Though some stories may not seem as scary as others, and maybe not all of them are quite up to ghost-hunter standard, but when reading the words on each line, you will find that a spark will alight in you. And that spark is fear, alertness, and the will to find a shadow in a bright room, all combined into one.

So, when reading, always take in your surroundings. Think, is it a figment of your imagination, or is it in fact real? Is the shadow in the corner of the room something you shouldn't worry about, or is it a demon waiting on you to snap?

But don't think too hard, because that's what they want you to do. And that's when you should start worrying.
