CHAPTER 5
James came after yesterday's tea. He teased me for the most part of the night then just ignored me...I reckon Becky likes him; she's always looking at him and wouldn't stop talking about him all that night!
Tonight we're going to a bonfire at one of Tom's friends property...It should be fun I thought to myself.
"So what are you going to wear tonight" Becky asked as she thumbed something into her phone
"Dunno yet?" I said half enthusiastically
"You don't seem too excited" Becky commented briefly looking up from her phone to eye me.
"Well...It's not that I'm not excited...it's just that I will hardly know anyone there" I said flopping on her bed and flipping through the open Horse magazine. "Do ya get what I mean?"
"Duh" Becky groaned sarcastically "That is the whole point of going"
"What's the whole point?" I asked pursing my lips.
I wriggled around so I could actually see her face.
Becky pulled a face at her and tossed her phone onto her pillow, before getting up and stretching.
"Da-whole point is so that you can go and meet new people and to have a good time" Becky said in a matter-of-fact voice. She waltzed over to her wardrobe and started rummaging through the contents, pulling things out and holding them up, as if trying to picture somebody in them...I didn't have to guess who that somebody was...
"Aha! You should wear this!" Becky said triumphantly as she pulled out an olive green coat that went to about the waist and had fake fur trimming around the collar and hood. "It would so bring out your natural tan"
"Beck, it'll be dark so they probably won't notice my tan" I said taking it from her.
"Eh...I forgot that bit" Becky replied
"Of course you did" I laughed.
"C'mon put it on" Becky rushed me as she grabbed a pair of patterned leggings from her drawer "Here put these on too" she handed me the funny patterned leggings
"Uh... I think I'll stick to my denim jeans thanks..." I said screwing my nose up at the leggings
"Aw, there not that bad" Becky said reluctantly taking them back.
I didn't really like the coloring, they were black with mustard swirls on them...reminding me of frogs legs, and I certainly couldn't imagine myself in them.
"You worry me sometimes" I said sarcastically
"Ha-ha I worry everybody!" Becky replied back just as sarcastically.
We laid out our outfits on the beds ready for tonight. I ended up going with Becky's Olive jacket, her black long sleeved top and my dark denim skinny jeans oh and my short black boots.
Becky went with my black and white gingham top, a black jacket and I persuaded her not to wear her patterned leggings but her dark denim jeans paired with her black combat boots. It took a lot of persuading, to change her mind on the leggings, if she had of warn them, I would have kept arm's length from her.
I started warming up to the idea of this bonfire we were all going to; after all I hadn't actually been to one since my Dad's birthday two years ago. It would be nice to stare into the flames with a marshmallow on my stick.
