Erys spent whatever time they had resting tending to her dragons. They were on death's door and steadily declining with each passing hour. Though Erys attentions weren't much, they seemed just enough to hold them there, at the point before death.
The situation quickened their pace, until they neared the end of the road. They nearly overshot their destination; had Thalia and Eirdain not stumbled off together in search of food they might have missed it completely. Keilith and Erys sat alone, keeping watch over the ever-dark forest where nothing stirred.
"You should tell them," Keilith said, breaking the silence.
His voice was so loud in the large expanse of the forest Erys jumped. She turned and approached him.
"Not yet," she whispered, settling next to him.
"So what is it?"
"What is what?" It was harsher than she meant, but she didn't particularly care. She didn't consider Keilith a friend.
"Your real name?"
Erys glanced over her shoulder. The forest was quiet; the others had not yet returned.
"Keep your voice down!"
"Then tell me! I already know you're a girl," he said.
"No."
Keilith narrowed his eyes, set his jaw. "Tell me, or I tell them."
Erys met his gaze, surprise plastered across her face. His glare was unwavering.
"You promised-"
"And I'll keep my promise...if you tell me."
"You don't get to make conditions!" Erys snarled. "I'll slit your throat if you tell them."
"We found...! Tell us what?" Thalia demanded as she broke through the foliage.
Erys tensed. If Thalia heard the threat she had even more reason not to trust her; they already hated each other. Thalia's lack of suspicion led Erys to believe she'd missed the threat. She shook her head at Keilith, casting a suspicious glance at Thalia.
"Tell us what?" she repeated.
"Nothing," Erys growled.
"Eirdain!" Keilith called.
"No!" Erys mouthed.
Keilith stalked toward her; he pushed his face less than an inch from hers.
"So?"
Erys glanced at Thalia, who watched them warily.
"Thalia, where's Eirdain?"
With a huff she stalked back into the bush the way she'd come.
Keilith smirked.
"Erys," she sneered, quietly.
Keilith arched his eyebrows and backed away, nodding slowly.
Eirdain broke through the brush.
