Chapter 4
The Chase
The morning after, Vanessa and Lana were having breakfast and talking about yesterday's briefing. It was another lovely sunny day. Vanessa could not believe soon these warm days will be replaced by snow storms. She was so not the winter girl.
"What shall I wear today, Lana?", She asked showing Lana a red and white dress and a pair of jeans and a tank top.
"They would both look good on you, V. Though I think we might have 90 degrees today, so I'd go for the dress, definitely.. Plus, I know someone else who will very much like that on you! Haha", Lana replied, winking at her.
"Can you stop that? We went for a drink, that's all. Nothing happened!", she replied, smiling.
"Yet!", retorted Lana, laughing.
"You won't drop this, will you?"
"Not until I actually hear from your mouth that you wanna make out with him."
"I do like him...Yeah, a lot, that's true. But why rush into anything, we barely know eachother."
"Did he try to flirt last night?"
"He was charming and funny. I enjoyed his company. And ok, if you wanna know, after a while I imagined myself kissing him...but we did not kiss! Now you're happy?", she replied, embarassed.
"I'm glad you actually can admit it sweetie. I want you happy no matter what you decide."
"I know Lana. I like that you care so much about me. You're a good friend, and roomie!", Vanessa said hugging Lana.
"Shall we go on campus to study this morning then meet the others at the cafeteria for lunch? I still need to work on Swift's assignment girl. We've been focused on helping him on the case but not really on our seminar.", said Lana.
"Yeah, I guess you're right. Let's have breakfast and go on campus. I'm also sure Swift will give me my first tasks as a TA anyway."
Ian and Shawn had got up at 7 am to go for a run together in Central park and were having a little break on a bench.
"Dude, we did well today. It's been an hour. I'm glad we actually can run together. It's so great to have a mate to do sport with.", said Ian, drinking his water.
"I'm happy too bro. I like the fresh air. It helps me focus so much better after. And speaking on focusing...how did it go last night with V?"
"It was great. We had a drink and talked for an hour about pretty much everything. Dude, you won't believe it, she's a former cheerleader and captain of the gym team here at NYU. That so much explains the hotness of her body mate. I could not stop looking at her even the way she sits is hot mate. And trust me when I say that I've dated a lot of hot chicks, but she's special. Really special. And on top of that, clever as hell.", replied Ian, blushing.
"Wow!!!! Well, I can easily tell now that you're officially into this girl bro. Don't let her go ok? And more importantly don't disappoint her by rushing into it. Take all the time you need to get to know her. If she appreciates you, she'll let you know."
"Yeah, I know. Don't worry Shawn. She's too awesome for me to make the slightest mistake. I can't and won't lose her. By the way, what time do you need to go to the Bureau again?"
"At 10 am. Peter is sending a car to pick me up on campus. So I guess I'd better get back, have a shower and go. What do you say? Are you coming now too?"
"Yep. I'm gonna try to call Lana so we can get in touch with that student who worked at the pub. Let's go buddy."
Shawn finished his water and dropped the bottle in the bin. Ian stretched his legs and they ran back to campus.
