The seminar

It was Monday, August 26th. The sun was still shining and it was really hot in NYC. There were lots of people in the parks and on the Husdson's banks with their kids or walking dogs. Central Park was filled with people lying down and having picnics on the grass or feeding birds. The end of the Summer was near but the warmth and farniente could still be enjoyed.

At NYU, classes were starting. The fall semester was the busy time on campus. Students were unpacking cars, carrying trunks and heavy luggage to their dorms. In the afternoon, most of the freshman students would be settled in and the seminars for Masters' degrees would also start at 2 pm.

This morning, Swift had sorted out his books and files and prepared his first class: "Introduction to Criminology". Vanessa and Lana were getting ready to go to campus too.

"Are you excited about this Vanessa? ", asked Lana.

"Oh yeah, I've been waiting for so long for this. We are finally attending Swift's seminar! I'm so thrilled! I just hope it won't be too hard..." , replied Vanessa.

"Yeah, me too. Well, let's go girl if we wanna catch the bus."

Shawn was already prepping his laptop so he could take notes during class. This was finally happening. Swift's seminar, best in the country and he was part of it. Today, he was making history, his own history. And taking a huge leap of faith.

As Lana and Vanessa walked towards campus main hall, Vanessa saw Ian, sitting outside on a bench, reading a book.

"Hold on a sec Lana, I gotta say hi to this guy on the bench. He's gonna be one of us at the seminar. Let me introduce him to you."

"Oh great! Ok, I'm right behind you girl. By the way, he's hooooot.", replied Lana.

"Shhhhh, come on Lana, don't embarrass me already! Haha!" Lana got as close as possible to the bench, but Ian seemed lost in his book. "Ian?.." asked Vanessa with a sweet soft voice.

"Hey! (Ian looked up) Oh...You're...that girl I bumped into at the cafeteria last week, huh? Don't tell me, ...Vanessa right?" , replied Ian, surprised.

"Hey...Yeah. Are you headed to the seminar now? Shall we go together? Oh and by the way, this is Lana Rodriguez, my new roomie and she's a seminar student too." Lana said, quite troubled by Ian's eyes staring at her.

"Nice to meet you Lana, I'm Ian Peretti. Let's roll girls. You got yourself the best bodyguard on earth!", said Ian, proud of himself.

"Well, I sure can't talk for Lana , but I can take care of myself and I do hope you and your massive ego can fit in the lecture hall! Haha" , replied Lana, sarcastically. Vanessa winked at Lana. Lana had noticed the spark between those two in a second. Yes, her roomie had fallen for a hottie!

Swift's seminar was on lecture hall 3. They entered one by one looking at the huge place it was considering there were not gonna be more than 20 students attending it. It was impressive, and on the walls were all the graduates from this Law school who were now famous magistrates or judges. The awkward silence between them showed they were actually re-writing their own future just by sitting here in this hall. All the seats were made of wood. It looked like a place where great endeavours are achieved. No wonder swift chose it to start his seminar.

Vanessa headed to the front row and touched the tables. "This is it guys. This is the day that's gonna change our whole lives. Can you feel it too?...Ok, I guess we should sit here. I mean, we don't wanna be far from the Legend, do we?", asked Vanessa to the other two, still overwhelmed.
