Bartley's POV

For the past few days, the only thing I've done is stress.

Stress. Stress. Stress. Stress. Stress.

It was all I could do. I was going to be the Best Man for a Prince. A Prince for God Sakes! I couldn't believe myself. A few months ago I had now friends, now my best friend is Prince William of England. It was unbelievable.

I had gone through rehearsals over rehearsals. I had to be Trained to stand and sit properly. Which was just a pain in my a$$ quite frankly.

Being royal sucks. I can't imagine what it would be like to be Will.

"Did you know that the Neolithic Revolution is the invention of agriculture?" My mother spoke at the dining table.

"Yes, Kate studied history in Oxford for about a year and told me all about it." William smiled, eating another bite of his baked potato.

"I just learned that today at the florists. I guess you learn something new everyday." She shrugged it off.

I dismissed myself from the table once I was finished with my food. I made my way to the kitchen, placing my plate in the sink and washing it off.

"Excuse me." A small voice spoke behind me, and I turned around in shock.

"Oh sorry, yes?" I questioned.

"What're you doing in the kitchen? It's my job to wash dishes." She said, as if she was shy to ask, like she didn't want to sound rude. I knew she just wanted information.

"Oh, I finished eating my meal. I didn't know Will hired someone to wash dishes. You can finish if you want." I said, even if my plate was already clean. The only other things were my cup and my fork.

She smiled, grabbing the sponge from my hand, and smothering it in dish soap.

"Do you always wash dishes with a smile on your face?" I questioned after observing her for a few seconds.

"I do when people are staring at me." she bluntly spoke.

"Sorry." I apologized, going to walk towards the kitchen doors.

"I didn't say I didn't like it." she smiled wider, not yet done washing the fork.

I turned my attention back at her, my cheeks flushing pink. I didn't know how to talk to a girl! I barely know how to talk to my social worker!

I didn't reply, I just continued standing there like a dumb statue until she was finished.

"So what's your name?" I asked, finally coming up with a topic of conversation.

"What's yours?" She fired back. Two can play at this game.

"I asked you first." I smiled.

"I asked you second." she smiled too.

"First comes before second." I pointed out.

"Touché. I'm Rachel."

"Bartley."

"Well, Bartley. I have other dishes to wash. Will I see you again?" She crossed her arms over her chest, her messy bun had small hairs striking out my her ears and on the back of her neck.

Her cheek, oh gosh, it had foam soap dripping down it, and I doubt she had a care in the world.

I reached my hand out and brushed the soap away using my thumb. "I guess I'll see you here tomorrow, after breakfast." I said, walking out of the kitchen, and she was undoubtedly the most beautiful girl if ever seen. not that there are many girls to compare her to from my small town in North Carolina.

Smiling to myself, I was aware my cheeks were red. I didn't care.

"Just saw the prettiest girl. Wish I got her number. ://" I tweeted, before walking all the way across the palace and back towards the wing that my room was in.

I grabbed my shorts, changing into them quickly and heading towards the palaces pool for a late night swim to relax.

I got in the heated pool, sighing to myself in content. the hot water felt like an entire hot tub, and I began to swim laps.

I had only done this a few times since being here, but I knew that swimming was becoming more and more fun for me, and I soon wished I joined the swim team in high school.

Besides the fact that they have to get up super early for morning workouts, I was jealous and I wanted to be a part of a team.

I'm not shy anymore! It would've really helped me get out of my outer shell.

My twitter feed blew up due to my recent increase of followers, but I only responded to a few comments before putting my phone on the charger and going to bed.

When I got up in the morning, I just had to remember to look good tomorrow if I'm going to be seeing Rachel.

Her British accent flowed perfectly, and I couldn't get her smile out of my head.

Something about her just hit me straight in the face and left a bruise that just wouldn't fade.

Tomorrow I was determined to find out more about her. I needed to know if she had a boyfriend or not. She probably did, sadly. She was gorgeous, any guy would be lucky to have her, and I knew that just based on first impression.

I was happy with my day today, so with everything invested in me, I forced myself to get some sleep so I could get up a little earlier than usual.

And when I woke up the next morning, I styled my newly purple hair into a quiff, and put on a light blue shirt almost the same color of my eyes.

With my hair done, and my face acne free, I grabbed my slippers and walked down the palace hall towards the dining room. Everyone was already seated when I arrived, and harry say quietly on the other side of the table like he always does.

"Thanks for helping me out the other day. I doubt that security guard would've dared to let me inside otherwise." I thanked him as we both took a bite of our blueberry pancakes. At least mine were blueberry. I think Harry's were chocolate chip.

"It's really no problem. I was just tired of hearing her argue over the microphone." he said, and I finished my third pancake, going onto my orange juice and my eggs that were sunny side up.

"Understandable." Kate replied for me, and I've come to the conclusion she heard about the whole ordeal. "Your mothers and I are going back to the florist to pick up the lilies for the wedding this weekend. We might take awhile." Kate said, getting up from the table after wiping her mouth with a napkin. my mothers followed suit.

A few minutes later, Will had finished his meal, and I didn't even notice Harry had left awhile ago too.

So I grabbed as many plates in my hands as possible, making my way to the kitchen, and seeing Rachel huddled up by the sink, already washing dishes.
