Chapter 149

Ariel

We just landed in Atlanta for Mia's birthday. The last few months haven't been much but the same shit. School, wedding prepping, work, and for all of us baby prepping one way or another.

I see her grandma's Black Benz truck pull up and I grab Mia's stuff. "You gone tell her?" I ask opening the passenger door for her.

She nods. "I need a nap first cause that plane ride had me nauseous" She says getting in the car. I close her door and put our bags in the trunk before getting in the back.

"Your uncles are coming over by the way, I told them you were coming so they wanted to come bother you" Her grandma says.

Mia nods and I can tell she's bout to fall asleep.

We get to the house and I smile at the smell at Pot Roast. That instantly goes away when Mia runs down the hall to the bathroom and I remember she can't stand the smell of it.

I sit our bags down in the living room and jog to the bathroom where she's hunched over the toilet. "You good?" I ask rubbing her back. I'm glad she wore her hair up.

She nods. "Yeah, can you grab my medicine please?" She asks.

I nod and leave out to grab it. I walk in the kitchen and grab a bottle of water out the fridge. "Is she okay?" Her grandma asks.

"Yes ma'am" I answer.

She side eyes me and I smile before walking out. I grab her medicine from her purse and hand everything to her. I close the door and lean against the sink as she takes it.

Once she feels better we walk into the kitchen and her grandma points to the chairs at the island.

We both sit down and she smiles. "I wasn't making that, it was actually leftovers, but you don't get sick, so wassup?" She asks turning the water on and grabbing a sponge.

Mia unlocks her phone and goes to the pictures of her last ultrasound. She hands it to her grandma and waits for her reaction.

Her grandma smiles. "Awe I knew it" She says. "How far along are you? I can't read this and my glasses are upstairs" She says rolling her eyes.

"16 weeks, they said we can find out the gender next week so either her mom or ma is gonna come so they can plan the reveal" Mia says.

My phone starts ringing and I see it's A.J FaceTiming me. I excuse myself and walk in the living room before answering the call.

"Wassup big brother?" I say turning my volume up.

He smiles. "I wanted you to be the first to see her" He says moving the phone a bit showing a baby.

I suck my teeth. "Bro, when that happen?" I ask.

He laughs. "I was with Messiah and Khy playing ball at dad's and Amari called Khy who told me that Charisma's water broke, so she brought her here cause she wouldn't let me come in without showering first" He says. "But I made it, she was only in labor for a couple of hours" He adds.

"So what's her name?" I ask taking a screenshot.

"Amoura" He says. "It means love" He adds smiling hard.

I smile at how happy he is. "Where's Charisma?" I ask.

He switches the camera to Charisma who's fuckin up a subway sandwich then back to him. "She's 7 pounds and 6 ounces and is 22 inches long" He says.

"She looks just like you" I say and Charisma makes a booing sound in the back.

Mia walks out and I move the camera a bit. "Awe look at my pretty girl, we'll be home Sunday" Mia says. "I will be by to see her, plus I gotta talk to everyone" She adds leaning on me.

Charisma gives a thumbs up and A.J squints his eyes. "We'll be waiting" He says. Amoura starts crying and he puts the phone down. "Call you later sis, be safe yall" He adds hanging up.

I frown and put my phone in my pocket. The doorbell rings and her grandma goes to answer it. She soon comes back with her uncles.

I dap em up and they hug both Mia then step back. "You gained weight?" Rylan asks.

Mia rolls her eyes and lifts her shirt up. "No meanie" She says and their jaws drop.

They look at me and I smile. "It's finally gone be another bad ass running around here?" Romeo asks. I nod. "Ooh bet, we gotta go shopping, when's the baby shower so we can book our flight?"

I look at Mia and she shrugs. "We don't know yet for sure but once ma figures it out she should be sending out invites" She says putting her shirt down.

"What can you eat so I can go to the store for dinner" Her grandma asks.

They walk in the kitchen and her uncles look at me. "You excited to be a parent?" Romeo asks.

I nod. "A lil nervous but yeah" I say honestly.

He nods. "My sister been telling me you and Mia been doing good with Ty, ion know what the fuck Jessica got going on but I'm glad my nephew got someone else to look up to" He says.

A.J

Everybody is in this room and I'm ready for them to leave. Plus they keep passing my baby around like a fuckin potato.

I feel somebody tap me breaking me from my internal frustration. "Wassup?" I ask looking at Leah.

She sits beside me on the couch. "I wanna hold her but I'm too small" She says rolling her eyes.

I get up and tap my dad. "Yeah?" He ask not looking at me. He's sitting here cooing at Amoura.

"Leah wants to hold her" I say holding my hands out.

He smiles and hands Amoura to me. "You tired of everybody being here ain't you?" He asks laughing a bit.

I nod. "How'd you know?" I ask adjusting her in my arms.

He fixes his hat. "I know the feeling, don't worry, once Leah has her turn we gone get out ya head for a minute" He says. "I'm proud of you and I love you" He adds giving me a side hug.

I smile. "Thank you and I love you too" I say.

I take Amours over to Leah who's rubbing hand sanitizer all over her hands and arms. "I'm ready Junior" She says scooting all the way back on the couch.

I gently place Amoura in her arms and they both start smiling. "She's so pretty, I can't wait till she's bigger so we can play together" Leah says kissing Amoura's forehead.

I see a flash and look up to see my mom taking pictures. "Y'all done made my baby an auntie and she not even 10 yet" She says.

After another hour of everyone talking and getting on my nerves, it's finally quiet. Charisma's sleep and now it's just me and Amoura watching SpongeBob on my iPad.

My phone buzzes and I see it's my mom calling. I answer it and put it up to my ear. "Hey ma" I say pausing the show.

"Hey baby, I was just calling to check in on yall before I went to bed, yall need anything?" She says then asks.

I look around the room briefly. "Not that I know of, when charisma wakes up I'll ask her just to be sure but for right now we're good" I say smiling. "Thank you"

"You're welcome, I didn't wanna disturb you but my mind wouldn't let me sit still til I talked to you" She says and I shake my head.

"I told her ass you grown, she ain't tryna hear that" I hear my dad say in the background.

I laugh. "Well I appreciate it and I'll call you guys in the morning" I say slightly stretching so I don't wake my princess up.

We talk a bit more then get off the phone. My phone vibrates again and I see Ariel's name on the screen.

I answer it and go back to watching SpongeBob. "Hey, I ain't tryna bother you cause I know you tryna sleep, I just wanted to call and congratulate you again and we gone be back Sunday" she says. "Mia and I are on the way to the movies so I can't talk long either" she adds.

"Thanks sis, be safe and let me know when you touch down" I say.

"Aight bet" She says hanging up. My phone pings with a text from her saying "I love you". I heart it and put my phone down before going to my show and eventually dozing off.
