"M-Mr. Wall, do you uhm like the c-color blue?" Brittany's raspy voice chimed in from the open door of the room. The Mysterious Man From the Wall now had a name, given by the little girl. They both agreed that the previous name she used to call him was too long. Mr. Wall smiled brightly as he watched the little girl walk into the barren room. The carpet was completely removed and the floor was now old cement.
"Blue sounds like a lovely color," Mr. Wall said as he emerged from his wall. He stopped right before Britt and crouched down to be at level with the girl.
"I-It's my f-favorite color," she said quietly and looked up at her friend. Mr. Wall was taken aback by the statement. It was odd for a girl to say such a thing since girl's normally liked the color pink at a young age. As he was lost in his thoughts, Brittany's hands reach out to his face and felt her fingers wrap around the frames of the glasses that he wore. They were black framed with square lenses. She found them appealing and pulled them off of him, shortly placing them on herself. She cringed at the distortion that the lens created when she looked through them. She was at least able to see Mr. Wall, somewhat. Brittany titled her head to a side as she saw him chuckle and patted her head.
"I need those to see you know. Be careful with them, they can damage your eye sight if you use them for too long," Mr. Wall warned her. After hearing that, she took them off immediately and handed him the glasses. This action made the blond emit another chuckle and ruffled the girl's hair.
"Well, I assume your parents will be painting the room today. I need a new color, I was getting bored of white," he smiled at her.
"W-Well...since bl-blue is my favorite color, I asked my uh...my mommy and d-daddy to make my room blue!" she
exclaimed. Mr. Wall nodded slowly. He thought he can work blue. Maybe he can learn to like it along with his new friend. He looked around and felt a smile replace his poker face. Things were changing for the better. He couldn't wait for the times to come with Brittany and her family."Brittany, sweetie, we're about to paint your room now so you have to go into another room," Brittany's father called out from the hall. Brittany jumped from surprise and turned to face the opened door as her father walked in. He wore old, raggedy clothing and carried in two buckets of paint. Seeing her father dressed like that made her crack smile and then laugh. Jerald knew that his daughter's laugh and smile was contagious, finding out that he too had laughed.
"Hahaha, I look silly, don't I?" he asked his daughter. She quickly nodded with a little giggle, but was replaced by a tiny gasp when she remembered about Mr. Wall. Brittany glanced over to her friend and noticed him looking a bit uneasy. She was curious as to why he was and thought up of a solution.
"Oh D-Daddy, meet Mr. W-Wall. He-he is my new fr-friend!" Brittany smiled and waited for the two men to greet each other. After waiting for a bit, she realized that they weren't doing anything. She furrowed her eyebrows and gave her father and friend a curious glance.
"I'm sorry? I don't see anyone sweetie," her father said and looked around the room. He couldn't see anyone and he was now alerted about it.
"B-but he's standing right-"
"Brittany...I don't think he can see me," Mr. Wall quickly objected her. Brittany frowned and noticed her dad approaching her.
"Is he your imaginary friend?" Jerald asked with an eyebrow raised. He was beginning to become a bit frightful. First she sits and stares at a wall, next she's talking to a wall and now she's given this wall a name. He was hoping that this wouldn't last long and would end quickly within the year.
"N-no D-Daddy. He's r-right here," she turned her body to face Mr. Wall. The look that she wore made the blond feel depressed. He didn't know what to make of the situation.
