Chapter 14

Haley's POV

I woke up to a warm body close to mine. My head was resting on Nathan's chest, while my hand rested on his stomach. His arm was wrapped me making me feel safe. It felt so right to be in his arms. There was no way to move without waking up Nathan. I looked at the alarm clock that was on Nathan's side of the bed and saw that it was already eleven in the morning. It took me a few minutes to realize that Jamie wasn't in bed with us. I jumped up thinking the worst, causing Nathan to wake up.

"Jamie's not here!" I said getting up rushing out of the room. When I walked into the kitchen I saw Jamie sitting at the table, but that's not the only one I saw.

"Taylor?" I asked shocked that she was here. Jamie must of let her in.

"Hey little sis." she responded getting up and giving me a hug.

"What are you doing here?"

"What I can't visit my sis and my nephew?" Taylor asked. See the thing is Taylor only comes to me when she needs something, or has done something bad.

"What is it that you want, or have done?" I asked getting straight to the point.

"I haven't done anything. Yet." she replied smiling. I don't really like her being here. I love my sister, but her and Nathan have history. I know it happened before Nathan met me, but I can't help but feel insecure. What if Taylor hits on Nathan, and he actually starts to like her back. I still love Nathan, and it would kill me if he hooked up with her again.

"Momma, can Aunt Taylor stay here with us?" Jamie asked me with excitement in his eyes. I would like to say no, but it's not my place. It would be up to Nathan.

"It's not up to me sweetie."

"Nathan, can Aunt Taylor stay here with us?" Jamie asked him with those eyes. I hope he says no.

"Sure. Why not." Nathan replied smiling at Taylor. You have got to be kidding me.

After I got out of the shower, I walked into the living room and saw Jamie watching tv while Nathan and Taylor were sitting next to each other. They are sitting too close if you ask me. I can't help but be jealous.

"Hey Jamie why don't you go and brush teeth, it's almost time for bed ." I said making my presence known.

"Ok." Jamie replied walking out of the room. Nathan had looked comfortable before I walked in, but now he didn't. I didn't like the fact that he was sitting close to her. It hurt me seeing them that close. If someone else saw them, they would think they were together.

"Well I am going to go get Jamie ready for bed." I said feeling awkward. I bet Nathan will be glad that I left the room anyways.

Taylor's POV

"So why are you here?" Nathan asked me when Haley walked out of the room.

"I came back because I missed my sis." I said lying. I don't want to come in here and drop a weight on Haley. I know she has already been through enough.

"I know that's not it Taylor. Why are you really here?"

"I came here to tell Haley something, but I don't know how to tell her. I don't know how she is going to handle it."

"What do you have to tell her?" he asked turning his body to face mine.

Haley's POV

After Jamie got done brushing his teeth, I helped him get his pj's on.

"I'm glad Aunt Taylor gets to stay with us." Jamie said crawling into bed. "How long does she get to stay?"

"I don't know buddy." I replied tucking him in.

"Is Chris going to hurt us again?" Jamie asked looking scared.

"No he won't. Because Nathan and I will be protecting you." I replied already feeling frightened again. I am scared that he is just going to show up when Nathan isn't around and hurt us again.

Nathan's POV

Taylor just got done telling me what she needed to tell Haley. She is going through enough right now, this is just going to break her in half.

"I don't know how to tell her Nathan. I want to, but how do I say something like that to her?" Taylor asked me with tears in her eyes.

"I don't really know. I mean if I were in Haley's shoes , I would want to know. It would hurt me worse if they kept it from me."

"Your right. I just don't know how to bring it up." she said closing her eyes. "I will tell her tomorrow somehow. Well I am heading off to bed. By the way where am I sleeping?" she asked raising her eyebrow.

"Um you can sleep with Haley tonight."

"I don't think that's a good idea. Haley and I in the same bed is not going to work and I am not sleeping on the ground." she replied.

"Well then you can have Haley's bed and she can just sleep with me."

"Like you two did last night?"

"Yeah...and before your head goes to the gutter..we were and will be just sleeping." I said knowing she was thinking we were not just going to sleep.

"Whatever you say. I'm going to bed." she starts to walk out of the room, but turns around. "Thanks for letting me stay here Nate." she smiled and then walked out of the room. A couple minutes Haley walked in. She sat down next to me, and I could tell something is wrong with her.

"What's wrong?"

"I just keep thinking about Chris, how he could be anywhere. I mean can anything get worse?" she asked. If only she knew how true that was. "Well anyways I'm going to go to bed. Night Nathan."

"Um..see the thing is, Taylor is sleeping in your bed."

"Well where am I supposed to sleep?" she asked folding her arms.

"With me." I replied smirking.

"You would like that wouldn't you." she replied smiling. I knew she was being sarcastic, but I do like it when she sleeps with me. It feels right to have her in my bed at night. It reminds me of how we used to be. She started to walk away but turned around. "You coming?" she asked.

"Yeah." I replied smiling. I got up and followed Haley into my bedroom. She climbed on my bed and patted the spot next to her. I laid down beside her.

"I know I haven't said it lately, but I want to say thank you for everything that you have done for me and Jamie." Haley said turning her body facing me. "I don't know what I would have done without you Nathan."

"I will always be here when you need me Hales." I replied.

"Always and Forever." she replied smiling.

 I couldn't take it no more. I leaned in and touched her soft lips to mine. I could tell she was shocked because it took her a few seconds before she kissed me back. Our lips moved in sync until breathing became an issue. I leaned away from her and saw she still had her eyes closed. When she opened them she smiled up at me and kissed me again.
