Chapter 16

As I approach my house I seen Nathan throwing pebbles at my parents bedroom window.

"Trying to wake my parents? That's their room." I said up toward my house. Nathan stepped in front of me making me stop in my tracks.

"Wait, Haley, look I need to apologize, ok?"

"You should buy em in bulk if your going to hand apologies out that often."

"Look will you just.. I don't know how to do this all right..? I'm..I'm not like you."

"What does that mean?" I asked feeling offended.

"All right, I screw up a lot, all right. And being around you I just I don't wanna be that guy any more."

"Well who do you wanna be Nathan?" I asked.

"I wanna be somebody who's good enough to be seen with you."

"Well you should of thought about that last night. You know I keep, keep putting myself out there, and you keep blowing it and it's probably a good thing because at this point there's nothing you can say or do that's gonna surprise me." Before I knew it his lips were on mine. I stood there shocked that he kissed me. He pulled away and looked down at me. "Except that." I mumbled still shocked. I looked up at him. "You shouldn't have done that Nathan." I said above a whisper."

"I wanted to." he replied looking down.

"Yeah.." I jumped up and kissed him, putting my arms around his neck. His lips moved in sync with mine. I pulled away with my arms still wrapped around his neck, loving the way his lips felt on mine for the first time.

"Haley?" I heard someone asked sounding panicked. I felt myself being pulled up from under the water. I came face to face with Nathan staring at me with worried eyes. "Oh my God. Haley are you alright?" he asked putting his hands on my arms. I shook my head and wrapped my arms around him tightly. I closed my eyes and started to cry. Everything is not alright.

Nathan's POV

I took Haley inside and got her to change into warm clothes. I am so worried about her. I can't believe she would try to drown herself. Jamie needs her. I need her. I know she doesn't know what to do right now, but ending her life is not a way. I walked up to her door and knocked, but I didn't get a response. I walked in slowly and saw her sitting on her bed looking off into space. I sat down next to her.

"Haley?" I asked but she didn't answer me. "You can talk to me Hales. I'm here for you." I said hoping to get her to talk, but she still didn't say anything. I kissed her on the forehead and walked out of the room. There is only one thing for her to be better and that is to find Jamie.

I told Haley I was going out, but she didn't answer me. I got in my car and drove to Lucas' house. I told him about the situation and told him that I needed help finding Jamie. I am meeting him at his house, so we can talk about what were going to do to find Jamie. I pulled up in his driveway and walked up to the house. Lucas opened up the door when I knocked. We went into the kitchen and sat down at the table with Brooke.

"How's Haley?" Brooke asked.

"Not good. She is so lost and depressed right now. I can't expect her to be calm about this. I'm worried about her."

"Well while your out looking for him, I can go over there and watch her, you know. I could try to talk to her." Brooke replied trying to be helpful.

"You could go over there and keep an eye on her. But she probably not going to talk. She won't even talk to me." 

"It's worth a shot." Brooke replied sounding hopeful. "I'm gonna go head over there now. Keep me updated." she replied giving Lucas a kiss and walked out the door.

"So do you have a plan?" Lucas asked.

"Yeah I do. I'm thinking Jamie is with Chris."

"Where do you think they are." he asked.

"Where he lives." I replied standing up and walking out the door.

Brooke's POV

I walked into Nathan's house knowing that Haley wasn't going to answer.

"Haley." I said, so she would at least know it was me and not Chris. I walked into her room and saw her sitting on her bed. I sat next to her.

"How are you doing?" I asked. I felt stupid because I asked the most dumbest question. When she didn't respond I spoke up. "Sorry dumb question...Hey were going to find Jamie. I know it."

"How do you know that Brooke?" Haley asked surprising me that she spoke.

"Because I have faith. Jamie is going to come home and he is going to be fine."

"I hope so. I don't know what I will do if Jamie is not ok." she said with tears coming down her face. I leaned over and gave her a hug.

"It's going to be ok." I replied holding her.

Lucas' POV

We pulled up to I am assuming Chris' place. I got out of the car and looked around. I glanced at Nathan and see him heading toward the front door. I walked beside him. Once we got to the door, I put my hand on the door knob and twisted it. I was surprised that it was unlocked. We slowly walked into the house and looked around. I gave Nathan a look saying I was heading toward the kitchen. He nodded his head, walking toward one of the bedrooms. I looked around the kitchen, but didn't see anything. I checked the living room and bathroom, but still nothing.

Nathan's POV

Lucas gave me a look to let me know he was going to check the kitchen. I nodded my head and  walked toward one of the bedrooms. I walked into what I assume was Chris' room. I checked in the closet, under the bed, and other places but still didn't find Jamie or anything. I walked into Jamie's old room. I looked around not seeing anything in sight. I heard a noise coming from the closet. I walked over to it and opened the doors fast. What I saw broke my heart. I seen Jamie with his hands taped looking scared to death. I untapped his hands and hugged him tightly. "Are you ok." I asked in a whisper. He nod his head yes. "Where's Chris?" I asked looking around the bedroom.

"He said he was going to see momma." Jamie replied scared. I know he knows it's not a good thing. I cursed under my breath. I picked up Jamie and walked out of the room.

"Lucas! We need to go now!" I said yelling walking out of the room. Lucas followed me out the door. I put Jamie in the back seat and hopped in the car as quick as I can. I drove out of the driveway and headed to my house. I hope Haley is ok.
