Chapter 23

"I don't know what your talking about." I said playing dumb.

"Haley you do to know." Brooke said glaring at me.

"How did you find out?"

"Jamie. He found it in the trash and he told me about it."

"Who all knows?"

"Just Lucas, Jamie, and me. Did you tell Nathan?"

"I was about to until you knocked on the door."

"Oh sorry. So how do you plan on telling him?" she asked looking toward the kitchen.

"I don't know now. I was just going to straight up and tell him that I am."

"Wait. So your going to? Why didn't you tell me and Lucas?"

"What do you mean going to?" I asked crossing my arms.

"Haley focus. Are we not on the same page?" she asked confused.

"Well what are you talking about?"

"The letter."

"Ohhhh.."

"Well what were you talking about?" Brooke asked raising her brow. I leaned in and whispered in her ear so Nathan wouldn't hear.

"Oh my gosh! Haley that's great!" she said loudly.

"What's great?" Nathan asked walking in.

"That umm...Haley.." Brooke looked down at her watch. "Look at the time. Got to go. See ya later." Brooke said hurrying out the door.

"What were you two talking about?" Nathan asked crossing his arms.

"Girl stuff." I replied a little too quickly.

"Ok..." Nathan said looking confused.

Brooke's POV

"Luke I need to talk to you." I said coming in the house. I heard a female voice coming from the kitchen. I slowly walked to the kitchen confused to why there would be a female in my house. Alone. Well not alone because Jamie's here, but because I'm not here. I walked into the kitchen and saw the back of a blonde's head.

"Brooke." Lucas said looking surprised. "You were not supposed to know." he said looking guilty, I think. What the hell is going on! I walked over to the blonde and turned her around by her shoulder.

"Oh my gosh Peyton!" I said out of shock. I jumped up and wrapped my arms around her. Peyton chuckled and wrapped her arms around me.

"Miss me?" she asked in a sarcastic tone.

"Yes! What are you doing here?"

"Can your best friend not visit?" she asked playfully.

"Of course you can P Sawyer. I missed  you so much."

"That's why I'm here. So how ya been?"

"I've been doing good, You've missed out since you been gone."

"Yeah I know. I heard about Haley's letter. Is she going to do it?" she asked crossing her arms.

"I don't know." I replied looking at Lucas.

"I thought that's why you went over to Nathan and Haley's, to ask her about it." Lucas said arching his eyebrows.

"Well I learned something else."

"What?" Lucas and Peyton asked me at the same time.

Haley's POV

"Momma!" Jamie hollered running into the kitchen jumping up and down excited.

"What do you want buddy?" I asked sitting down at the kitchen table.

"I was wondering if I could spend the night with Chuck tonight?" he asked hopeful.

"I don't know bud. It's pouring down rain outside. The roads are not safe."

"Please! You can drive slow there." he said with a pleading look in his eyes. Nathan walked into the kitchen setting his phone down on the table.

"Daddy?"

"Yeah?"

"Can I spend the night with Chuck tonight?"

"Of course you can."

"Sweet!"

I put my head in my hands.

"What's wrong Hales?"

"He asked you because he knew I was going to say no."

"He wants to spend the night with his friend so why not?"

"Nathan..we need to start talking this out before any of us give him an answer."

"Ok..well we will do that starting tomorrow. Let him spend the night with Chuck."

"It's raining outside Nathan."

"We'll drive safe." he said grabbing his jacket.

"I'm coming with you." I replied getting up and grabbing my coat.

"Let's go Jamie."

"I'm coming." he ran into the living room excited.

"You gave him candy? Didn't you?" I asked smiling.

"Maybe." I gave him a stern look. "Ok. I did. I can't help it. You try saying no when he does that thing with his eyes.

"Yeah I know. He got it from you."

"Be safe sweetie.." I replied giving him a hug. "Have fun." I ran back to the car so I wouldn't get soak and wet from the rain. I pulled my hair to the side and took my jacket off. I noticed the car wasn't moving yet. I looked over at Nathan confused, and saw him staring at me.

"What?" I replied smiling.

"You..Your just so damn beautiful."

"Stop it.." I replied feeling my cheeks redden. "Let's just go." I said looked out the window.

We were about a few minutes away from the house, when I turned my body side ways to look at Nathan.

"Nathan?"

"Yeah?" he asked glancing over at me, then back at the road.

"I don't know how to tell you this. And It's something that I known about for a few weeks. And I can't keep it from you any longer." Nathan looked over at me with concern and kind of a scared look.

"What is it?" he asked putting his hand on my knee.

"What I wanted to tell you is that.."  Out of the corner of my eye I seen bright lights. "Nathan look out!" I shouted. I heard the car screech coming toward us, but it wasn't slowing down. My head hit the window causing everything around me to blur. I felt the car flip over..the last thing I heard was Nathan calling my name, before everything turned black.
