Chapter 6

Brooke sat next to Jamie at the hospital. They been there for what felt like a week. Brooke was waiting on the doctor to let her know what was going on with Haley. Brooke looked beside her and saw a worried expression on Jamie's face.

"Hey buddy. Everything is going to be OK." She wrapped her arms around him and pulled him close to her.

"I want my momma." Jamie said in a small voice.

"I know you do. But we have to wait until the doctors let us know what is going on with your mom." Brooke responded getting teary eyed. "Are you hungry?"

Jamie shook his head yes. Brooke stood up and held out her hand.

"Lets go get something to eat."

They walked out of the hospital and headed toward a place to eat.

"Brooke I can't tell Nathan. He thinks its you and he said 'how do you tell someone their life is over'. I can't do this. He will freak out if I tell him its me Brooke."

"Well what are you going to do?" Brooke asked.

"I don't know." Haley responded. "I'm going to go home for the night."

"Well what about Nathan?" Brooke asked standing up with Haley.

"Tell him  I went home because I was tired."

"Hey its going to be OK. I'm here for you whenever you need me." Brooke responded putting her hand on Haley's arm.

"Thanks Brooke." she walked away knowing what she had to do.

Haley woke up to severe pain on the side of her stomach. She looked around and saw that she was in a white room, hooked up to machines. She tried to sit up but couldn't. At the time a doctor walked in.

"Your awake. How are you feeling?" she asked walking up to Haley.

"The side of my stomach is in pain."

"Do you remember what happened?"

"I was at Chris' and Brooke was there. I seen he had a gun. Oh my gosh  Brooke." Haley said starting to panic.

"She's fine. You were the only one that was injured."

Haley felt relief wash over her.

"When can I leave?"

"Whenever you feel like your ready." the doctor responded writing stuff down on paper.

Haley leaned her head back on the pillow and felt sleep overcome her.

Brooke and Jamie sat by Haley's bed side waiting for her to wake up. When they got back the doctor had told them that she had woken up, but fell back to sleep. The doctor said she was going to be fine and that could leave whenever she was ready to.

When Haley got back to Nathan and her apartment, she grabbed her suitcase that was in the closet and started putting her clothes in it. She grabbed her bathroom stuff and makeup and put them in her suitcase. As she zipped up the suitcase she heard a knock and someone open the front door.

"Haley? What are you doing?" Brooke asked looking at the suitcase confused.

"You know how you said you were here if I need anything?"

"Yeah. Haley what's going on?"

"I need your help."

"Help with what?" she asked still confused.

"Getting out of Tree Hill."

Haley woke up to the of a beeping monitor. She looked around the room and saw Brooke and her son sleeping on the couch curled up together.

"Brooke?" Haley whispered trying not to wake up Jamie.

Brooke stirred in her sleep.

"Brooke." Haley said louder this time.

Brooke opened her eyes and saw Haley looking at her. She got up trying not to wake Jamie up.

"How are you doing?" she asked walking up to Haley.

"I'm still a little sore, but I think I will be ok."

"That's good to hear."

"How's Jamie doing?"

"He's a little shooken up, but he will be better once he knows your OK."

"How long have I been here?"

'A few days. I took Jamie to a hotel and we been staying there nights, and coming here during the day."

"Thank you Brooke for taking care of him. I don't know what I would do without you." Haley replied with tears in her eyes.

"Hey its ok. Remember how I told you I was here for you when ever you need anything?" Haley nodded her head. "I meant it."

"Thanks Brooke."

"Momma! Your awake." Jamie replied jumping off the couch. He ran to her and hugged her careful not hurt her.

" I missed you so much baby." Haley replied hugging him tight.

"Are we staying here momma?"

"I don't know buddy." Haley replied running her fingers through her sons hair.

"I don't think you have to." Brooke replied smiling.

"What do you mean?" Haley asked confused.

"How do you feel about moving back to Tree Hill?"
