Chapter 4: Lost Hunger

Dustin

I sat on the couch watching tv bored as hell and after a while of searching for something to watch i gave up. I didnt feel like playing my video games so I got up and put my shoes on to go for a walk.

'Im such an idiot! I just gave cole to that fucking bastard...' I grabbed my head in anger which soon turned to sadness. I sighed and headed toward the kitchen to find something to eat. I opened the fridge and saw an empty space... My stomach began to growl. "Great.." I sighed and disappointingly shut the fridge door and went to go get my shoes "guess im going out to eat tonight.." I muttered "alone..." and walked out the door.

As I walked along the side walk i looked down looking at the pattern indented in the concrete. I didnt pay attention to where i was going exactly and i blanked out for a while just staring down at the never ending pattern. After a while i snapped out of it and noticed i was nowhere ive been before. I havent really gone out a lot so im not familiar with anything.. "Bad idea.." I quietly said to myself.. I took out my phone and called jayden but after several disappointing rings it went to his voicemail that he never checks anyway. I sighed.. Im fucked definitely fucked.. I walked around until my stomach started to growl and found a small cute restaurant right across the street to fill my stomach at.

I headed to the small eatery down the street from my house it took a while to get there. My usual rout was broken by construction so i had to go around.. 'What a pain..' Even though i was starving i couldn't stop thinking about cole.. 'I guess... I guess i just need to get over it... ' i sighed as i finally arrived and as i grabbed the door handle it hit another hand. I looked over to the quite short and cute person next to me. He had short vibrant red hair and soft honey colored eyes that gave out a warm feeling, he was wearing an ovdark turquoise hoodie and baggy black sweatpants. After a while of us staring at each others build, our eyes met in awkwardness and his face became red "w-what are you looking at.." He said in a loud but shaking voice. I was silent for a moment noticing his blush and smiled as I then apologized and opened the door for him waving him to go in before me.

God im so embarrassed... i looked down and back up again noticing his warming smile i paused just like i did about 10 seconds ago, staring at his smile.. it made me warm inside.." um, you going in or not?" he asked me and i snapped out of it blushing again "a-ah yea.." i replied half mumbling and rushed into the restaurant and took a seat in the first booth i saw. I held my menu in front of my now red face and peeked over to the other man as he sat down in the booth right next to mine.

I smiled as he shyly sped away to a booth and i just sat into the one next to him not really thinking much about it but i could tell he was still blushing the way he held his menu "i-" i began to try and talk to him as my phone rang. i saw the name if the id and hung up. and as i began to talk again it rang. the name i despised flashed at my face.. Jayden.. i went to the bathroom of the restaurant and answered my phone "What the hell do you want Jayden" i said with a bitter tone. he quietly responded "its about Cole.. he.." my eyes widened as his voice faded away "WHAT DID YOU DO TO COLE" i furiously responded "We just had a small argument and he ran out suddenly.. i looked everywhere but i dont know where he went" i calmed myself down.. luckily i had a strong idea of where cole was but im not about to tell jayden that... "ill start looking.." i responded and hung up not letting him even have a chance to respond.

The man looked like he was going to say something when he was interrupted by a call and he looked at the flashing screen of his phone with hatred in his eyes. He then stormed into the bathroom not looking happy.. It was a small restaurant.. the walls were thin. i tried not to listen in but i did anyway.. i heard him say the name jayden.. my brothers name but i thought no way until he mentioned the name cole.. i was confused a bit of who he was.. but i knew he probably strongly hated my brother and had something close to cole.. "excuse me sir?" i was spaced out thinking but i woke up and looked up at the waiter.

I left the bathroom and began to leave the restaurant when i ran in the middle of a problem. "sir you need to pay now or ill call the cops" the waiter warned " Ahh i know i know i cant find my wallet anywhere.." his voice began to get shaky and worried. "sir-" the waiter started to talk but i cut him off "here" i said handing him a 20 dollar bill "this should cover both of our meals right? you can keep the change" i said and then walked out of the restaurant. Shortly after the boy came out "h-hey wait up!" he shouted to me and i stopped walking to turn around as he ran up to me "T-thank you so much you saved me back there.. please is there anything i can do to repay you?!" he said to me eagerly wanting to repay what i did for him.."i dont need anything but thank you for the offer" i politely responded and started walking again. "oh..okay..." he mumbled quietly but began following me.

The man rejected my offer and i didnt know what to do... so.. i started to follow him.. he was probably going to jayden and i was lost...  after a few minutes he turned around again "could you tell me why your following me now?" he asked and i quietly responded "u-um.." i mumbled... i didnt know if i should even bring it up...he might get mad at me "come on spit it out" he demanded.. " w-well back in the restaurant...i kinda.. heard your conversation on the phone.." i said quietly.. he sighed.. " so what does that have to do with following me?.." he demanded my answer again "erm.. well this morning i got lost... and well i sorta know the man you were talking to.. Jayden, well he lives close to me so um.. i thought you were going to see him.. so i followed you..." i responded..

"Y-you know him? well how?" i said surprised. "um.. im.. kinda... his younger brother" he mumbled back. "his brother..." i paused and then sighed "well im looking for my friend so i wont be seeing him" i said "y-yea Cole.. right..?" he added and my eyes widened a little again "yea.. hey.. can i ask you something?" i said in a quiet soft tone "hm? uh yea sure.." he said "when you met cole.. did he look happy?.." i asked him "yea he did.. he was almost glowing with happiness " he replied and i slowly smiled and turned around

"im glad" he said in a rather shaky voice and turned around. i noticed that a drop of water hit the sidewalk infront of me and i looked up to the bright blue sky.. after figuring out what ut was i became quiet and didnt say anything. i didn't think it was my place to say anything... after a while we ended up in a large field with a giant hill and we walked up it. when we got to the top i saw cole laying down in a bunch of flowers growing in the grass. i stopped but the man walked up and sat next to him.
