3rd POV
As nights turned into years, the boys rushed to school for another day of learning (both being 10 years old). Dani went to work and chores, she worked at an orphanage where she spent time with lost boys and girls it; made her feel more connected to Neverland.
"Peter don't forget it's your turn to pick up the kids after school!"She yelled this out as she walked to her car.
"Don't worry darling, I'll take care of it"
She looked back at him, a slight doubt in her mind that was soon waved off.
Soon it was the end of the school day the kids run towards their parents, except two.
"He's running late..." Arthur muttered looking at his brother James, who was a volcano ready to explode. He rushed off in the direction of their home, just by the way he walking you can tell he was pissed off it didn't help that he's a red head, making it look like lava was going down his face.
"I can't believe him! We spend so little time with him as it is, he had one job, pick us up from school that's all! He might as well forget he has kids..." James says releasing all his anger and resentment.
"But what if he's in an important meeting, you also have to see it through his point of view, James!" Arthur said standing up for his father, even though he agreed with his brother. A kid can only take so much, James turned and spread his arms flinging them everywhere.
"Oh! You are such a Hufflepuff Arthur! I know you're angry too, you can't take his side all the time even you have your limits, it's okay to feel angry that you don't get attention."
James grabbed his brother's arms, getting right in his face as he said all this; Arthur, on the other hand, looked down at the ground and bit his lip thinking about whether his brother was right.
Peter, on the other hand, was in a meeting looking at the clock in anticipation, he didn't forget the kids. The meeting he was in was only supposed to take an hour at most giving him plenty of time to pick up his kids, but life was just not friends with Peter. As his co-worker was making a closing statement Peter rushed out the door as if his life depended on it.
Peter got to the school entrance and saw everyone gone, he looked at his watch he was half an hour late. He knew that the kids most likely walked home, they would rather walk an hour away from school then stay at school any longer than they had to. Peter's suspicion proved correct when he saw Arthur and Jame's shoes at the door; he walked towards the kitchen where the twins were mostly found there or in their room creating more pranks.
"Hi guys, sorry I was late the meeting dragged on longer than-"
"And? Couldn't you have excused yourself? 'Hey excuse me, boss I gotta go, I have to pick up my kids that I rarely see because of this awful job' or re-schedule?!"
"James I think you should-"
"Arthur, please...!" James hissed at his brother then looked at his dad, who was grasping for the words on what he could say, James, clicked his tongue and ran passed his dad towards the stairs.
"James, please! You gotta listen, let me explain!" Peter yelled after him finally coming to his senses, "Arthur, please not you too, just let me explain"
Arthur looked at him, hesitating on whether he should, but he thought his brother needed him more. Peter sighed and rubbed his temples wondering what could he do to make it up to them and if the boys had a point.
