Prologue
3rd person POV:
Medusa ran to find the witch who owed her a favour. She passed through the thick trees of the forest, and made sure no one was following her, for what she was about to do had to remain hidden. Her sister, the Graea had warned her of a possible future that she must stop from occurring. She was wearing a black long cape with a hood that covered her snake hair, and a pair of dark sunglasses that prevented her eyes from turning every living creature along the way into stone.
Medusa's POV:
Knock, knock, knock. Come on, answer the door already, she has to be here.
"Yes, what is...Medusa! Is that you? " said Arelyn the witch.
"Shhh...You mustn't say my name, just let me in," I hissed.
"Come in, come in," Arelyn said while closing the door behind me. "What is it that you need?"
"I need you to pay that favour owed to me, with no objection to it, do you understand?"
"Yes, yes, well of course."
"Is there a way for you to transfer a baby from one womb to another?" I asked desperately in hope of saving my child.
"Ummm...Yes, I think there is a spell for that. I might have to sort through my great grandmother's grimoire. Whose baby do you want to transfer?"
"Mine, I'm pregnant. But no one must know of my child's existence. It shall be born and raised with mortals in order to stay alive, because I know that if i keep it, the chances of it having a safe life are slim, and I don't want its father to take it away."
"Wow… That's a lot to take in. Well, we have to work fast... Do you know the person you want to transfer the baby to?"
"Yes. She has already informed of the transfer. I brought a lock of her hair and a belonging of hers. I didn't know what you would need."
"This will do."
3rd person POV:
And so the witch transferred the child to a mortal named Eva Preston. That night when Medusa returned to her abode, she wrote a letter to her daughter to be born. She knew that she will never get the chance of seeing her, or even hearing her voice. Medusa was a physical monster, yes, but she was not pure evil. She had a heart that beat like any human’s and her it was filled with deep sorrow. Sorrow not because of what was to come for her, not because she knew that she wasn’t able to raise her daughter, but because she knew she was doing the right thing by sending her to the world of mortals.
Medusa’s P.O.V:
I did the right thing, I did the right thing. I kept repeating those words to myself as I placed a hand on my womb where she used to be. Tears fell from my eyes to the floor, causing it to sizzle like acid on skin. I had to let her go in order to save her. There was no other way, my ominous death doesn’t matter right now. I feel as if I were already dead. I can't believe she will never have the chance to speak to me and let me explain why I did what I did… No she must know, I quickly ran to my room and gathered a blank scroll and ink and started writing the letter...I’ll give Eve specific orders to give it to her on her 18th birthday, for that is the day she becomes her true self.
