26. Sam: date with Andrew

Mom drops us off at the school entrance and I watch Keagan run off in his school's direction. I take ine gulp and head into my school. Around me, people carry on with their morning duties of grabbing books and finishing their breakfast.

I follow curvy halls to my locker at the end of the junior hall. Also, my friends are there and when they spot me they all gather around. All try to talk at once and when I don't answer right away, Kendre speaks above them.

"Are you sure you're alright?"

I nod, "Yeah, I was just sick yesterday. But I'm good now."

They sigh in relief and I pass through my mass of friends to get to my locker.

Most of my classes pass silently except that I get a bunch of homework, which is torturous. Most of my teachers had planned surprise quizzes, so by the time I could go to lunch, my brain was fried.

I walk to my table across the cafeteria and first thing once I reach my table, Logan heads pops away from the rest and he looks at me.

"Hey, saved you a seat." He smiles and pats the stool beside him.

I sit in the seat to his right, the one he patted and his tray soon scoots in front of me. My eyes move up and I look at him; his smile stretches kind of weak, and he nods at it, "Eat something, please. It will make me stop having to worry."

I shake my head, even though his meal is making my mouth water. "You know I got sick from eating."

"Then just eat a vegetable, you had made to quick of a change yesterday. That's why you got sick."

I look at my friends, they all are fooling around and laughing about something that had happened earlier today.

My fingers slowly climb up the side of the table and curl around a French fry. "Fine, but only this one. Then you can stop worrying about me." I stick the greasy potato into my mouth and it crunches when I chew.

Logan's smile turns back to a strong one and his eyes sparkle, then Kendra turns to me. "Hey, how were your quizzes?"

"Fine, I guess." I look across the room unintentionally, it's now just by muscle memory. Andrew's laughing face comes into my view from where he sits a few tables over. I can't believe Logan actually got him to agree on going out with me, well, with both of us.

I rush up to Logan after school to get him so we can go home, now my mom brings him here and home everyday, since his parents work long hours.

When I get up to him, I notice that he is in conversation with Andrew. I automatically freeze while trying to seem average. If Andrew knows I like him, this must be awkward for him too.

"Hey guys... Um, Logan." I feel my body tense up and I attempt to stand straight up, but my head pushes back and my arms stay straight uncomfortably by my sides. "Wegottagomymomshere." I say real fast and turn back to the exit. But before I get to the door I hear some struggles and someone being pushed in my direction. I turn back, and right as I see, Andrew falls towards me, not a harsh fall, just a shove-fall.

"Whoa, sorry." He holds my shoulders to get himself straight, then lets go. "Logan pushed me." His arm stretches back so her can scratch his neck pitifully.

We both look back to Logan who is walking our way, whistling and twirling a lanyard around his index finger. He doesn't stop when he gets up to us though, he just continues to stroll to the exit and out the school.
