grabbing the shovel

i exist.

well, not anymore.

i used to be a bouncy, funny, full of life teenager. until i dug my own grave.

i was in love, obviously. what else tragic could possibly happen at this age?

they were just someone who met me at the wrong place, wrong time.

i was sad, alone, desperate. we literally bumped into each other at a corner store.

"hey! you look familiar!"

"we are in the same class..."

"jungkook, right?"

"um, yeah."

"sweet! what are you up to right now?"

i had turned to leave but they had grabbed my wrist.

"what are you up to?"

"i uh... not much..?"

"come with me!"

"but i need--"

"get it later!"

against my will i had followed them outside.

honestly, maybe not so against my will.

"where are we--"

"you'll see!"

we ran through a park.

then through a field.

where were we going?

we came across a plot of land over-looking most of the tiny town.

"why are we..?"

i trailed off and looked up at them.

he was already looking down at me.

"you know..."

they had taken a step forward and i, one back.

this continued until i hit a tree.

"uh..."

"i've seen you looking at me, talking to my friends, sitting on your own at lunch, the usual."

he stepped closer. i was almost pinned to the tree at this point.

"but never me. you never talk to me. jimin has become infatuated with you. honestly, so have i."

i was then actually pressed to the tree by their body.

"taehyung... i..."

"sh. no excuses."

he had leaned down slightly so we were eye-to-eye.

"i'm unsure as to why i look at you all the time. i don't know why i only talk to your friends. maybe i'm too afraid to approach you, or be rejected a simple conversation. i really don't know."

he had leaned back during my explanation, i hadn't even noticed.

"when a book becomes a chore to finish, do you keep reading?"

i was very confused.

"i... what?"

"when a book becomes a chore to finish, do you keep reading?"

"personally?"

he nodded.

"yes. i always want to know how everything turns out in the end."

he backed away, leaving me still stuck to the tree.

"do you see this book as a chore to finish?"

"life?"

"us."

i stood in silence to pull my thoughts together.

"no."

he pulled me close to him, arm wrapped around my waist.

"how about after reading the back of the book, you try and read this one. if it becomes a chore to finish, let the pages know you need a rest. promise me one thing, you will read this book cover to cover."

i looked up and stared into his eyes. they convey a serious feeling, yet they look like this was a spur of the moment thing, like he could chicken out and tell me to forget it any second now.

"i promise. i have my own conditions though."

he walked us back to the tree so i was pressed against it.

"anything."

"if you get tired of reading, let it know. don't flip pages before you've really read every single word. don't write your name in the book and then try to sell it. just read until you can't."

he chuckled a deep, throaty chuckle.

"you look like a book i could never get tired of reading."

"don't judge a book by it's cover."

Yo, yo. This is going to be shorter than my other stories because I'm not exactly sure how to go about finishing this. I might write it in letter form from main character to reader. We'll see! Love: BoogieWoogieBaby~ ♡
