Night came, I saw Isabella rummaging through her bag. "What are you doing?" I asked her.
She looked at me and noticed that I was dressed. "Is Luke here?" she asked.
"No," I said. "Wait, are you going on a date too?"
"Yes!" she said giving me a wide smile. "Josh just asked me out a while ago."
"That's great," I said. "Luke will be here in a minute, so I just go downstairs and wait. Do I look okay?"
"Of course. You look beautiful Sophie," she said.
"Thank you," I said smiling.
Luke came a few minutes later. "You look so beautiful Sophie," he complimented.
"I-uhm – thank you," I said blushing. "Same to you."
Luke opened his car door for me. "Thank you," I said. It was the first time for me to sit in front of a car.
"Uhm – I don't know if it was okay with you – and asking you on a date – " he was stammering. It was so cute! "I – do you want to watch a movie?"
"I love to!" I said. That 'I love to' word was getting out of me often. But I really do love to watch a movie. This was going to be my first time to watch a movie in a mall cinema.
When we reached the mall, we had to pay for the parking which I just found out. After finding a parking space we went inside the mall and went to cinema. There we saw many couples on a date. I know Luke and I weren't couples, but being surrounded by couples made us self-conscious. "Just wait here," I'll buy the tickets," he said. Luke went to the ticket counter and I waited beside the popcorn stall.
A then guy approached me. "Hey there!" he said.
I looked at him. He was the same height as Luke and a bit rough looking because of his moustache. He looked like he was in college.
"You are a pretty little thing," he said. "Are you here alone? Looks like it."
"I'm not. So can you please leave me alone," I said.
"Really?" he said still not going away. "Where's your boyfriend? Leaving you here all alone." He rounded me and it made me scared. I looked at the ticketing booth but I couldn't find Luke.
The guy was suddenly on his toes. Luke was grabbing his shirt. "Luke!" I gasped.
"Leave her alone," he said.
The guy pushed Luke and gave him a murderous look and left. "Are you alright?" I asked Luke.
"I should be the one asking you that," he said calmly. I heard him sighed. "I shouldn't have left you here alone."
"I'm alright," I said. "Don't worry."
He then holds my hand and said, "Don't let go, okay?"
My face was flushed when he said that. I nodded and we went to buy popcorn. I was really amazed when we entered the cinema. There were so many chairs and there's a big screen at the center. So this is what a mall cinema looks like.
We found our seats and waited for the movie to start. "You look so amazed," he said smiling. "Looks like it was your first time."
First time on a date to an ordinary guy and go on a cinema. But I wouldn't tell him that. "Of course not," I lied laughing. "Do you go out on a date often?" I asked.
But I was actually afraid to hear what he was going to reply.
"No," he said.
I felt relieved.
