Chapter 8
"You've got a lot of work to do!" Daniel yelled up at me, waving a wad of paper in the air."Sorry, Danny. But I'm not allowed to have any guests over. Guess I won't be able to do homework," I explained, giving him a fake frown.
"No worries, Tori doll. Leave it to me to make sure you get your homework done," Daniel said, winking up at me.
"Thanks, dad," I replied sarcastically.
He smirked and started climbing up the tree at an incredibly fast pace. Just as he was about to reach the window, I screeched like a banshee and shut the window closed.
I ran to the other side of the room.
No homework for me! I thought.
I fucking thought.
Looking at the window open easily in horror, I remembered at the last second that I forgot to lock it. Shit.
"Mission accomplished," Daniel announced, beaming at his achievement while placing the stack on my desk.
"It's not like I'm gonna do it anyway," I retorted, shifting my weight to one leg while crossing my arms at him.
"I figured. I just wanted a reason to come over," Daniel explained bluntly, staring at me with those smoldering eyes.
I forgot how to breathe for a second. Holy...
"Cat got your tongue?" he asked, going through my drawers and taking out one of my thongs. "Bingo," he said, plastering a huge grin on his face.
"Daniel!"
"Victoria!"
"Stop!"
"Go!"
I ran up to him in a flash in an attempt to grab my thong out of his hands before he could realize what I was doing. Unfortunately, he caught on fast and dodged me running to the left and toward my door.
"Ugh!" I yelled in frustration, clenching my jaw in anger before following him out of the room and down the stairs. I could see him almost near the bottom and caught him looking up at me. Seeing that I was almost near him, he ran faster and turned the corner into the kitchen.
"Wave your thong in the air like you just don't care!" I heard him yell from the kitchen. I laughed at how childish this was getting and hid next to the entry to the kitchen, waiting a few minutes. Realizing that I'd still not come into the kitchen Daniel called out to me.
"Tori!"
As soon as he left the kitchen, I came out of my hiding spot and jumped right in front of him.
"Boo!" I yelled, widening my eyes and throwing my hands up in an attempt to scare him. His response was hysterical.
"AAHHH!" Daniel screamed, jumping probably five feet in the air while holding his hands to his heart. Thankfully, me scaring him made him forget that he had my thong in his hands and he dropped it right in front of me.
"Thank you," I said, picking up my thong from the floor before quickly running up the stairs and into my room. I threw my thong back into its drawer and in exhaustion, jumped onto my bed, purposefully spreading myself out so that there was no room for Daniel to sit when he came.
Daniel came into the room after me, shutting the door behind him. He put his hands on his knees and bent down, panting in exhaustion. I laughed, remembering the girlish scream he'd let out when I'd scared him downstairs.
"You scream like a girl," I remarked, glancing at him with a sneaky smile on my face.
"Yeah, yeah," he muttered, coming towards the bed and staring down at me. "Move over," he commanded, pushing my leg in an attempt to make room for himself.
