Chapter 2
I walked into Health Class with my head down.

"Mrs. Stevens, why are you tardy? Do you have a pass?" Mrs. Davis asked, holding her hand out.

"I didn't feel well," I murmured, looking down at my feet in embarrassment.

"Speak up young lady," Mrs. Davis said sternly, bending down in an attempt to make eye contact with me.

"I... d-didn't feel...well," I stuttered. I heard a chuckle from the back of the room.

"Alright, that's enough Collin," Mrs. Davis snapped at the student that had chuckled. She turned back to me. "Take a seat Victoria," she said, gesturing to the few empty seats that were available.

I went to the very back of the room and sat down in my seat staring straight ahead.

"Alright, class. To start off our unit of communication skills we will be doing a long term project," Mrs. Davis lectured.

I groaned inwardly.

"We will be doing a project where you all will have pen pals from a different state. This will help you interact with people outside of school and the state of Connecticut," Mrs. Davis continued. "I will pass out a sheet that tells you a little about your pal."

Great. Just when I thought this day couldn't get any worse. Well, I was wrong. Now I have to use my "communication skills" and communicate with someone I don't even know. Fuck my life.

"Next I will pass out the instruction sheet," Mrs. Davis announced. "By the way, this is the first time I've done this project with my students so bear with me," she added, handing me a sheet.

After passing out the instruction sheet and giving out a few more directions, Mrs. Davis was interrupted by the bell.

"Have a nice day!" she said, giving us an enthusiastic wave. I wasn't sure if she was just being friendly or was just happy that the class was finally over.

I speed walked out of the class to my locker to get my books for the next class. Thankfully, I didn't run into Natalie this time. The rest of the day was a complete drag. My thoughts kept drifting to the pen pal project. I had barely glanced at who my so-called "pal" was.

After the last bell rang, I grabbed my stuff and left the school.

When I got home I said a quick "Hi" to my mom and went upstairs to do my homework.

As I took out my health folder, I quickly opened it up and took my pen pal sheet out of it.

There was a picture of a boy. Oh no. Not only did I have a pen pal, but he was also a guy! I can't even get along with girls for fuck's sake! I know. I'm overreacting like hell, but I have zero communication skills! I groaned wondering what the fuck I'm gonna do.

I looked at the picture. Holy shit. He's actually good-looking. Hell fucking yeah, now I get to embarrass myself in front of a cute guy! Aren't I just fucking Lieutenant Sarcasm over here?

Anyway, the guy's name is Isaac Ryder and he is the same age as me, 17. He lives in California and goes to Brookshire High School. He has blue eyes and his blonde hair was styled messily as if he had no care in the world. It was a cute look. Snap out of it Tori! I really don't understand why I feel this way. There was just something about him. Little did I know then that he was Satan's evil fucking twin.

I shook my head and grabbed the instructions sheet. It simply said:

Talk about anything you want with your partner! Get to know the person and send an email to them at least once a week. Have fun!
