Dan has a girlfriend, Phil you can't feel this way. Not any more. He chided himself mentally. For the past couple months, Dan was rarely ever home in the morning but off with his girl friend. Phil missed him and his company. It was even worse because he loved Dan but had to act like he wasn't. It was torture for Phil, seeing the one person he loves with some one else and not with him.

Paint splattered teardrops on my shirt,

Phil cried himself to sleep most nights, thinking about what could've been if he'd just told Dan how he felt. He was an emotional mess and couldn't seem to drag himself out of it. Phil also hated how Dan could just tell when something wrong and if he had been crying. He could never tell him why though.

After my blood turns into alcohol,

They used to be so close before Dan moved on. Phil still fought for their friendship even if it wasn't as strong and close as it had been. He hasn't talked to Dan for a couple weeks finding no reason to talk to him. Since then Phil began drinking, lightly at first then more heavily. One night he got so drunk and did something really stupid. He called Dan and told him everything. How he was in love with him and didn't think he would ever stop loving him.

We'll play hide and seek to turn this around,

After that call, Dan went to their formerly shared apartment to talk to Phil. Before they knew it they were kissing and there was a spark. That spark was cut short by Phil snapping
back to reality and pushing Dan away from him. Phil told him to leave and give him space to try and get over this because that kiss did not help in his effort to move on.

It had been four days an Phil couldn't stop thinking about that kiss. He wanted it so badly now that he had gotten a taste. He wanted to be loved by Dan. He just wanted something he could never had.

A year had passed and Dan was back at Phil's apartment. He didn't know why but he was. Maybe it was because he had felt something that night and wanted more. Something sparked when the two boys made eye contact because in less than thirty seconds they were kissing. The spark was there and neither boy wanted to pull away. Eventually Dan did because he remembered his 0girlfriend and how much he loves her too. He pulled away apologizing and ran out the door.

And it's been a while but I still feel the same,
Maybe I should let you go

Another year had passed and Dan and his fiancée were getting married. Dan and Phil's friendship was still present an important to not of them, not a big shocker. It was hard for both of them though, more so for Phil. He still felt the same way he had years ago but knew he needed to move on. He needed to let Dan go because he loved someone else more than he loved Phil and deserved to be happy with her.
