We rode the elevator down, me leaning against the wall of the elevator.
We reached the bottom and Dave turned to Karkat, "It's your turn to carry her, she still has bandages."
I wriggled my eyebrows at him, smirking. He scowled.
Karkat hesitated at the entrance to the pool.
"Can you swim?" I mumbled in his ear.
He shook his head slightly and walked in.
I smiled, I adored swimming. "I'm gonna teach you!" I whispered excitedly.
He faltered, before agreeing. "Fine."
I peered over his shoulder into the deep, deep blue of the pool. I reached down and unwrapped the bandages from my legs, feet and ribs. I grabbed a pair of goggles and hopped off Karkat's back, limp- running to the pool. I pulled on my goggles, and lunged in. The chlorine stung a tad, but hey, the pool was 14 feet deep in the deep end. I sat on the floor, swishing my long arms through the water as a kaleidoscope of colors swam over me. Jake smiled and waved down at me. He waved me back up to the surface, where Dave and Dirk were waiting. Jake dipped under the water, easily lifting me on to his shoulders. Chicken fight.
Oh hell yes.
I smirked. "Chicken fight?" I asked.
He nodded, closely watching Dirk.
I snickered. Jake liked Dirk!! I had my suspicions, but now it was definite. I knew that look, that loving smile Jake had. It was the same look I gave... nobody actually. I'm not ace, but why love someone if they don't love you back?
I leaned forward, whispering to Jake, "You have a crush on Dirk!"
His head snapped up.
"I do not!" He protested.
"Yeah you do!" I argued.
My gaze flicked off Jake to Dave and Dirk. Dave had his hands on Dirk's shoulders. Suddenly, Dave jumped into the air, flipping and landing on Dirk's shoulders.
He surged forward. So did Jake. We started losing immediately. Dave aimed at my shoulders, pushing me back. Jake took a step back and turned, swishing around so the brothers were on the deeper end. Dirk shot forward, grappling with Jake. I was about to be shoved off. All it would take was for Dirk to step forward. But he never got the chance. Jake stepped inside his defenses and kissed him. Time stopped. Dirk's eyebrows widened in surprise. "MMM WHATCHA SAYYY!" I yelled.
Then I lunged forward, knocking a very surprised Dave off of an even more surprised Dirk. Jake pulled away.
Dirk still stood waist deep in the pool, stunned. Meanwhile, Karkat was dying of laughter on the side of the pool.
