Chapter 12

As me and Dewey reached the bottom of the staircase, we heard a door open.

"Crap. Follow me," he said, pulling me behind a plant, "get down."

I looked around to see if anyone was around. My eyes focused on a man walking down the hall. I recognized him as one of the security guards who had caught me when i first tried to escape. His phone began to ring. He picked it up.

"Hello?" said the man.

5 second silence.

"Alright, i'll take your shift now," he said with a groan. He hung up the phone and left.

Me and Dewey stood back up.

"That was too close. We almost got caught," he said, "let's hurry up."

We began to walk down the hall again.

"So, how are we going to get out of here with all those security guards watching the place?" i whispered.

"We're going to just have to be really careful," he said.

We walked down another staircase which led to the main floor.

As we walked around a corner, we saw a guard at the main entrance/exit.

"Damn! I should've known. Come on. We'll have to get out another way," he said, grabbing my hand. We began to speed walk. We couldn't take the chance of being seen.

We went back up the staircase and entered a random room. Dewey closed the door. He turned on the light. It appeared to be a empty bedroom. It was almost identical to my room, except it had a balcony on it.

"I think i have a idea," said Dewey.

He went over to the balcony and looked over the edge.

"The pool!" he said with a smile.

"What about the pool?" i asked.

"We can jump from here into the pool and get out of here," he said.

"But what about the fence?" i asked, "It has spikes and cameras."

"It won't be a problem. Let's just jump," he said. He took his bag and threw it next to the pool. He began to climb the railing.

"But what if they hear us jump in the pool?" i asked.

"They won't," he said.

"But what if they see us?" i asked.

"They won't," he said.

"But, what if-"

"Look, we don't have time for this! We could get caught any second. Come on!" he said.

I went over to the balcony and looked down. It looked like it was going to be a far drop.

"Okay, i'll jump first," he said.

He looked at me one last time and jumped. After a second, i heard a splash. I looked over the railing. He had made it. He emerged from the blue water.

"Come on!" he yelled as quietly as possible.

I climbed on the railing and looked down. I was so scared. I've never dived into a pool this high up. But i had to do it though. There was no other choice. So i took a deep breath...and jumped.

I shut my eyes as i descended into the cold water. As soon as i emerged, i took a huge breath and opened my eyes. They immediately burned from the chlorine. Dewey swam over to me and wiped my eyes.

"We made it!" he said with a smile.

"Yeah, we did! But we still have to get over the gate," i said.
