"Boo!" Fred voice boomed through the empty common room, lazily, as if it hadn't been enough to burst eardrums. Corinne was shocked none of the picture frames had fallen from the walls.
"Fred!" She grumbled, willing her heart rate to settle as he leaned over the couch over her shoulder, lips pulled into their signature grin.
"Hmm?" He hummed, and she didn't need to turn to hear the laughter already seeping into his voice.
"Don't do that." She ordered, forcing her eyes back to the book in her lap.
"Are you seriously doing schoolwork?" Fred lunged forward, a second too late, as Corinne pulled the book from his reach, knowingly.
"It's not schoolwork, Ella sent me it."
"It says charms, right at the top!"
"It's interesting." She bit back. She could feel him behind her, his weight against the back of the ancient couch where she felt she had spent most of her days since classes had ended. Even if he hadn't spoke, if he had been at all capable of silence, she would have known he was there, the familiar cologne washing over the small space, the spicy, almost sugary scent with the hint of smoke.
"Let's do something." He whined, and Corinne didn't bother to bite back a smile, not looking to him, not letting him win. "Come on. We'll go to Hogsmeade. Get lunch?"
Corinne paused, thinking over the idea, and finally dropped her book to the couch at her side. She rolled her head back against the couch, blinking as her eyes met his. He was closer than she had realized, honey brown eyes sparkling with mischief when she hadn't even agreed.
"It's almost two." She pointed out.
"And? Have you got big plans tonight?" He teased, leaning somehow closer and biting back a smirk as she sank down against the couch, giving herself a bit more space, a bit more breathing room.
"I meant," She grumbled, "It's far past lunch."
"Have you eaten lunch?" Fred asked, knowingly. He knew very well that the hours had ticked past, mealtimes passing without her notice as she had wasted the morning away on this very couch.
She blinked, watching him carefully, the obnoxious Weasley smirk.
"Think they would make me a milkshake?" She asked, watching as Fred's eyebrows sank together in thought, for only a second.
"A milk... It's freezing out."
"And?"
"And... You're so right. Let's go, milkshakes." He lunged for her, hands slipping beneath her arms before she could protest, pulling her from the couch and dropping her back to her feet near the stairs.
"You're an absolute..." She muttered, mostly under her breath, stomping up the familiar stairwell for some warmer clothes. "Menace."
"Five minutes!" He called up after her, leaning against his usual spot against the wall to wait.
It had been longer than five minutes, though he didn't care. She was coming with him. They had no where to be, no responsibilities or school work. Just an entire afternoon to do as they pleased.
Corinne finally stomped back down, landing at his side, brows raised as she nodded to the doorway.
"Well?" She asked, pulling his mind from his thoughts, his eyes from where they had been scanning over her once again. She was wearing the same coat and scarf she had worn up to the Astronomy tower, only now she had pulled on some fuzzy black boots to match her hat.
"Now you're rushing me? Like you weren't just stalling up there for twenty minutes-"
"Do you want to go by yourself?" Corinne snapped, eyes wide as Fred stepped forward, shoving through the portrait door and pausing to let her through. "And I don't want to sneak through honeydukes-"
