Breathing, what's the point of it when no one notices me. I try so hard, so hard at school, at home, trying to fit in, but still, no one notices me.
"Hope...Hope...Hope!"
"Yes Miss Cooper?" I repy, coming back to the real world.
"Were you going off with the fairies again Hope?"
"ahhhhhh" I don't really know what that question means anymore. I have so much time to myself, I think to myself more than I talk to people.
"Yes, sorry Miss Cooper, it won't happen again" I answer
"That's okay, I just need you to answer my question, and call me Tina, I am your counsellor after all"
"Okay Miss Cooper, I mean Tina, Can you repeat the question?"
"I asked, what do you feel when you think about how your parents left you?" She repeated
"Well, I don't really think about it that often, so I can't really answer that." Okay, so I may have lied about that, but I think about them all the time, so much that I don't really think about much else. What sort of parents just up and leave their daughter when she's only three and worst of all, leave her with her horrible uncle.
"Yes but I'm sure you think about them sometimes" Tina continues
"No-o, not really"
"Okay well you get back to me on that one, onto my next question..."
"Yeah, I'm feeling kind of tired" I interrupt as I stand out of my chair, "Maybe we could pick up our weekly chat another time, great"
'Ummm okay, what about next week on Tuesday after school?" She asks desperately rushing through her diary.
"About that, It'll probably have to wait for a few weeks"
"What? Why?"
"Why? because I'm, ahhhhh, going on holiday" I quickly blurt out
"Oh really, where?" Tina asks suspiciously
"Haw-a-ii? yep, that's right, I'm going to Hawaii with my good old uncle"
"Okay, just let me know when you are back!" She yells as I walk out of the counselling room
Okay so I really have to stop lying in my counselling sessions, but I would do anything to get out of them and you never know, when I get home, my uncle could have organised a trip to Hawaii for the both of us, but that's highly unlikely.
As I walk out onto the path, Maya, a girl from my English class rushes up to me shouting my name.
"Hope! I'm glad I caught up with you, you're a really fast walker, who were you trying to get away from?" She asks me as she catches her breath.
"Nothing, I mean no one" I reply
"Right, anyway, I have been watching you for a while, well not stalking you but you know, anyway I thought you might wanna be friends or whatever so maybe we could grab a coffee some time like now, or not, I'm talking really fast aren't I, sorry, I guess I'm just nervous, so what do you think? Hope? Hope are you listening?"
"Sorry ahhhh, yeah I'd love to hang out but I can't today, maybe tomorrow after school." I say while staring at a bush.
"ahhhhh" says Maya
"What?" I ask
"So your a Sam Ryans fan, huh?" Maya asks as I slightly notice Sam Ryans talking to his friends, okay, my immediate attention turns to his gorgeous wavy, blonde hair and beautiful ocean blue eyes.
"No, maybe, okay yes, maybe I have a little crush on Sam" I whisper
"Really Hope, really?"
"Okay fine, a massive crush, but you can't tell anyone, okay?"
"Okay, as long as you promise to hang out some time?" She explains
"Of course, but I have to go now, I guess I'll see you on Monday"
"Great I mean cool, I mean, never mind, bye" Maya says as she walks back to her house.
Did I just make a friend? I say to myself as I walk down the path going past Sam Ryans and I catch a glimpse of him looking at me in a different way, I smile at him, then run away to make sure I don't make a fool of myself, as usual.
