*Taylor's POV*The cops ran in, charging towards me as I put my hands up. Fear struck through my body when I realized that they were running behind me. When I turned around, I noticed a man with a butcher knife in his hands being cuffed. According to the police he was there the whole time hiding in the bathtub behind the curtains. My anxiety rose thinking about what might have happened, I stood there shocked not knowing why I wasn't slaughtered. I was lost in my horrifying thoughts as a police officer approached me.
"Are you alright ma'am?" He said, concern written in his eyes.
"Yes." I replied, still shaken up.
"Alright dear, if you are in need of anything do not hesitate to ask. Also, may I ask where your parents are?" He questioned, as he raised an eyebrow.
"Will do, and as for my parents, they had sent me a message informing me that they would be here as soon as possible." I replied stuttering slightly.
The officer gave me a nod accompanied with a lighthearted smile before walking towards the other officers. A few officers stayed back until my parents arrived. My mother wrapped me in her arms tears falling from her eyes.
"Oh sweetie, I thought I almost lost you!" She said, hysterically crying.
"Honey, we are not about to leave you home alone any time soon. Especially not late at night." My dad says, I could tell by his clenched fists that he was furious, however his face showed guilt for having left me alone.
I am almost 18, and being home alone never bothered me. I did not like being treated like a child, but this event sure sent chills down my spine. I went back inside and tried hard to fall asleep with no such luck.
As the days went by, I realized that the once vacant house beside mine was no longer empty. I hadn't known who had lived there until I looked outside and saw the window to the house beside me, slowly open.
Curious as to who was there I started to look in, hoping that whoever was there would move their curtains. After waiting and having no luck, I slumped onto the bed and began to watch videos on my laptop. I heard glass break and asked my mom if everything was alright. She told me that she hadn't heard anything and that it must have come from outside. Considering that the incident with me almost being bludgeoned to death happened no more than two days ago, I was scared out of my mind. As I approached my window to close it, I met the eyes of Corey. It MUST have been fate I mean out of all people, I was living next to Corey, the green eyed boy with dirty blonde hair. I realized I had been daydreaming when I noticed him waving at me with a wide sheepish grin. I waved back shyly feeling my face burn up, knowing that it was red I ran into my bathroom after shutting the window and closing the curtains.
I tried to make myself look presentable. Great. Now I have to look decent in my own house. After this exciting news I just knew I had to tell someone about it, so I did. I rang up my best friend, Kara.
"Hey!" She practically screamed as she picked up.
"Someone's excited?" I muttered. I move the curtains and start looking out the window, hopeful that I'd spot Corey again. Well, I'm not creepy at all.
"Yeah, I just got some pizza. Anyways what's up?" The words flew out of her mouth so fast I could barely understand them. She really liked that pizza.
"You'll never guess what happened!" I shouted through the phone. Probably a bad move when I noticed Corey's silhouette making its way towards his window.
"Crap." I whispered
"What happened?? Lemme guess, you aced every test you did this week?" She scoffed.
"Yeah of course I did, but what I'm about to tell you is even better." I said in an excited and devious tone.
"..Ok.. What is it?" Curiosity scattered in her voice.
Scared that Corey would hear, I scooted away from the window.
"Okay, so Corey now lives next door to me, and his room is directly across from mine!" I could barely make out the words that were spitting out of my mouth due to my exuberant tone.
"Oh my gosh, Taylor that's great! Now you can go sneak into his room in the middle of the night and freak him out!" She scoffed, I could almost hear her roll her eyes.
"Kara, come on this is amazing news!" I shrieked.
"Yeah, yeah. Wanna hang out then?" She said, boredom in her voice.
"Considering that you're so bored that I can hear it, I think this will be good for you, come over," I laughed, and then choked on my laugh. Hoping Corey didn't catch a glimpse of that.
"Alright I'm on my way, peace!" She said almost instantly, hanging up before I could slide in a goodbye.
This is going to be interesting, she wouldn't be this excited if she wasn't planning on doing something... mischievous. I didn't mind it too much though, it was going to be fun. I hope.
