A beeping noise was heard throughout the room as Zacharie's parents eagerly awaited response from the young boy that was being taken care of. Thankfully, he managed to recover in time as well as Dan even though he had gotten the worse of the beating. Nothing major, just a few cuts scraps and a whole lot of bruising. Since Zacharie had felt some hits to the head, he was currently asleep but he's only been sleeping for 3 days since the incident. 5 long days actually dragged out and soon Zacharie woke up with some throbbing pain but painkillers were supposed to do their trick.

"Mom, dad. Where's Dan?"

"Dan recovered sooner than you and he's at school. He managed to call the cops after those two boys left you." His father announced to him. Zacharie gave a small smile and looked at his hands that were bunching up the blanket. "This is my fault isn't it?"

"No way in hell." His mother snapped, "it's those boys fault. The world can do without them. I don't think it's fair to day that they get a few weeks in the slammed. Hell, put them for life!"

"Mom, it was just a petty crime."

"Petty crime my ass! Attacking something because you hate their life style? How fucking stupid is that! The world doesn't revolve around narrow minded idiots! It revolves around people with open minds. If not, we wouldn't have all this technology and a good job!" Highlighter huffed with her arms across her chest. Zacharie's father laughed and pet Zacharie's shoulder. "Your mother is worked up." He sighed and Zacharie nodded in agreement.

Some nursed went to check up on him and other than that, he was free to leave tomorrow after a few final touch ups to what ever bruises. Dan came after school and hugged his boyfriend tight. "I should have listened to you." Dan ranted on about his mistakes as Zacharie called his name and cupped his hands on his cheek to get the other's attention. "We all make mistakes. In a relationship, this won't be the last but it is a first. Everything's going to be better, lesson learned." Zacharie softly smiled as Dan wrapped his hands around Zacharie's. "I can't lie... You're right. " he sighed and laid his head on Zacharie's lap. "I got some bad news, kiddo. I'm skipping town. Moving because all this shit happened."

"What? But- we just got together. How could this? Why..." Zacharie sobbed into his hands. Dan let out a small sigh and hugged his boyfriend close. "Email me everyday. My phones broken but until I get a new one. Everyday. Email me. Just like in those letters, Zachie." Dan rubbed his back in circles. "Ill respond to each and every one of them." Dan reassured. Zacharie shifted around a little before agreeing. "I'll miss you..."

"I'll miss you more..."

It was the day of thieves. Zacharie and Dan said their farewells and exchanged a few kisses and hugs as they left. Zacharie emailed Dan everyday like they promised but Dan never replied back. Sure this unsettled Zacharie but he knew Dan was reading. Dan always read what he wrote even if he didn't respond. That was his little habit. So from then on, Zacharie typed and typed away as he went on through the school year, summer and back at it. Zacharie had a few occasional check up to see how his head was doing after expressing odd sensations of pain. Though, one of these visits are not one he enjoyed.

"So Zacharie, how are you doing without Dan?"

"I miss him... I miss him so much." Replied Zacharie to the doctor's question.

"Its been at best, two years since he passed. Of course a loved one would be missed."

"Pass? You mean skip town right?"

"No- I'm sorry dear. His parents skip town. Dan didn't. Dan's... Dan's dead, Zacharie...." the doctor explained. His parents tried to shush the doctor to no avail so now,his parents were home comforting the heartbroken Zacharie. "I didn't know! I saw him! I saw him skip town! How is this all possible? I would never forget something like this!" Zacharie wept.

"Son, when you were hit in the head, it must've played with your memories. It was true that Dan called 911 for you but he barely lasted the drive to the E.R. It was a metal bat after all. Those things hit hard. Especially on skulls. He was brain dead for a while and they had to pull the plug." His mother informed and soothed her son out more. Zacharie wept and didn't get much sleep that week. All those letters did go unread. Dan couldn't read them because he was dead! He's been emailing to a dead man. all this time and he forgot. He forgot when his love died. He missed Dan even more know because there was no chance of them ever meeting again then it struck him. There was one place where they could meet and be happy forever and ever without a worry. After death.

Zacharie came home from school that night knowing his plans for reuniting with his love. It was to kill himself. He didn't need to gather courage. He was ready. He was ready to join Dan once more. Zacharie wrote another love letter to Dan and climbed the roof of his house. Clutching the letter close to heart, "till death do us apart once more, Dan. Wait for me. I'm coming." Zacharie said happily with only one hot tear rolling down his hair as the wind blow harsh and coldly blew against him. With a smile on his face and his back to the concrete below him. He fell over like a petal and broke like glass.
