It was a blustery Monday morning in September. The trees were bright orange with few leaves. The sky was ominous and grey, casting shadows on the street. Everyone was dressed in hats and scarves as if it were winter. Three best friends were heading into school that morning. They stepped through the big double doors of their high school, located in upper Manhattan, where it was extremely high-end. Unlike the rest of Manhattan, there were gardens and parks and woods.
Hunter Pierce, one of the best friends, filed through the rush of students. She led her two friends, Aria Hale and Kaycee Alvord into their first period class. Hunter confidentaly paraded in and took her seat next to Aria and Kaycee. Aria tucked her paperback book back into her bag. She pulled out a pencil and spun it with her fingers. Kaycee doodled number 6-her soccer number, on the back of her notebook.
After the bell rung, their teacher, Mrs. Dower stood up from her desk just as a blonde girl appeared through the door. She had sparkily blue eyes and a perfect figure. She wore a flowery top and skinny jeans tucked into Frye boots. The blonde girl timidly stood next to Mrs. Dower's desk.
"Class, this is Brooke Johnson. Nicole is from..." Mrs. Dower trailed off. Brooke finished her sentence. "Boston."
Mrs. Dower nodded. "Welcome." Aria noticed an empty seat next to her before raising her hand.
"Yes, Aria?" Her teacher asked. Aria gestured to the seat next to her, between her and Kaycee.
"She can sit here." Mrs. Dower smiled. Brooke glided down the rows of desks, clutching an empty binder. She filled in the empty seat. Mrs. Dower eventually caught their attention and pulled it away from the beautiful Brooke.
"Please discuss the passage you read from last night with your group." The class suddenly burst with loud murmers. Aria turned to Brooke who looked compleatly lost.
"You can be in our group, Brooke." Aria smiled. Kaycee and Hunter pulled their chairs over.
Brooke let out a loud sigh. "Thank you, uhh, Aria?" Aria nodded.
Hunter gasped when she noticed Brooke's boots. "Oh my god, I love your boots." Brooke looked down, knocking some golden blonde hair off her shoulder. "Oh, thanks."
Mrs. Dower sat at her desk, engaged in something on her computer. Brooke rested her chin on her fist. Kaycee pointed to Brooke's wrist. "You play soccer?" Brooke eyed her charm bracelet that featured a golden soccer ball. "Yeah, actually, I do."
Kaycee grinned, "So do I! Tryouts are in two weeks, you should totally come!" Brooke nodded pushed her notebook back into her bag, realizing that they wouldn't be doing any actual learning.
Aria ran her fingers through her brown ombred hair. "Sit with us at lunch?"
Brooke giggled, "Who else would I sit with?"
The four girls spent the rest of first period exchanging phone numbers into their iPhones and helping Brooke catch up on the school work.
At lunch, they helped her through the luch line and guided her to their table in the center of the cafateria. They examined her schedule and found out that she had Home Ec. with Aria, Gym with Kaycee and Hunter, and History and English with all three of them. It couldn't have worked out better.
At the end of the day, Hunter, Aria, and Kaycee led Brooke out to the front of the school where they waited for her dad to pick her up before parting seperate ways to their own cars. Hunter crawled into her white Carolla and pulled out of the student lot. Her blonde hair flowed down her back and her green eyes focused in on the road ahead. She turned onto Maplewood and bounced over some speed bumps before she got home.
