That same eveaning, Kaycee sat on her back poarch, sipping an iced tea, next to her boyfriend Taylor. They had just finished a brutal workout in the yard. Kaycee had on grey terry cloth shorts, a white tank top, and new balance sneakers. Her strawberry blond hair was pulled up into a high ponytale. Taylor had a towel wrapped around his neck. The wind was just beginning to slow down and allowed the temperture to rise just about a few degrees.
Kaycee looked over at Taylor, who was loosening the laces on his shoes. "Good enough for today? Do you think I'll make the team?"
Taylor rolled his eyes. "Kay, stop worrying, you'll do fine."
Kaycee sighed, "I guess. But that's coming from someone who already has a spot on the team."
Taylor smiled into Kaycee's big hazel colored eyes. He loved her adorable freckly face and full, pink lips.
Taylor laughed and led Kaycee back into her house. He picked up his bag and gave Kaycee a light kiss on her cheek. Kaycee blushed and said, "Do you really have to go to the gym? We just worked out." Kaycee wiped some sweat off her forehead.
"I told you, I have to meet Mason and Kai." Taylor squeezed Kaycee's shoulders.
She nodded and allowed him to go. Kaycee slowley shut the front door before starting upstairs to see if Brooke wanted to come over to practice.
Kaycee picked up her iPhone and dialed Brooke's phone number. She waited for a few rings but Brooke never answered. Kaycee tossed her phone onto her bed and began organizing her soccer socks, each more colorful that the next and stained with dirt. Her parents, both lawyers, wouldn't be home until late that night.
After a half hour of boredom, Kaycee dialed Brooke's number once more. This time, Brooke did pick up.
"Hello?" Kaycee smiled, looking out of her bedroom window.
There was a short pause. "No, I need to-oh, hey, Kaycee. Sorry, I was talking to my...mom."
Kaycee was suspicious about the pause between my and mom. But she shrugged it off. "So I thought since you're trying out for soccer and all, you could come practice with me?"
Kaycee crossed her fingers and waited for a responce. Brooke's cheery voice rang through the speaker. "Uh, sure. Now?"
Kaycee replied, "Yes."
"OK, just give me a second to change." Brooke said goodbye and hung up.
Kaycee darted back down the stairs and to the back yard where she had begged her dad to put in a soccer goal. Kaycee began dribbling back and foreth down the yard, trying her absolute hardest.
