The days passed quickly and everything was like a blur. Before I knew it, it was Saturday. I woke up with a good feeling. Due to nervousness, I didn't even eat breakfast properly. A cup of steaming hot coffee was the only thing that calmed my nerves which seemed to be all over the place.

I don't even know why I am so anxious. Its not as if the date will turn out a failure. After all, this is Liam we are talking about. I am holding onto the hope that he is THE person. However much cliché it may sound, I believe that the right person will come surely. I doubt it that Liam has any bad character traits. He is polite, caring and a loyal friend.

"Cat!!! Please can you bring me my towel. I forgot it on the bed!" Steph yelled.

"Yeah, wait a sec." I gave her the towel and sat on the bed, fiddling with my fingers.

Steph practically bounced out of the bathroom, grinning like a madwoman. "Okay, he said that he would be here in how long?"

"An hour."

The color visibly drained from her face. "Crap...uh, okay. We have to get started right away then. How are you planning to look tonight? Intelligent? Chic? Classy?" She wiggled her eyebrows. "Madly attractive?"

I rolled my eyes. In honor of the occasion, Steph had run to the story and chosen quite a few outfit pieces for me. I hadn't seen them yet...and still couldn't fathom how she had enough money to do so.

"Come on!" She dragged me into my room and searched through the giant pile of clothing she had dumped on my bed until she found what she was looking for.

"This will be perfect for a casual date!" she announced, holding out what I prayed wasn't going to be some gaudy slip that would only just barely cover my butt.

But fortunately, it wasn't. She was holding a pretty, white tank top with light blue flowers printed on it along with light washed denim mini skirt. I headed towards the shoe stand and picked out beige high heels (A/n: picture on the top right corner). As i happen to have a crazy obsession with heels, almost the whole shoe stand is full of different coloured heels as well as wedges.

"Try it on!" she urged, shoving the dress into my hands and pushing me towards the bathroom.

I carefully changed into the outfit and zipped up the back, admiring myself in the mirror for a moment. The blouse fit perfectly around my upper half, accentuating my nonexistent chest. The skirt flared out slightly and ended just above my knees.

After pulling on the heels, Steph styled my hair down with the ends in lovely curls, a waterfall braid stretching back from the left side of my head.

She had just finished the look with a touch of light makeup when we both heard the doorbell.

I almost tripped walking to the door out of anticipation, but when I slowly opened it and saw Liam standing there, all of my nervousness melted away.

He stood much taller than me, even in my heels. He had a broad smile on his face that only became brighter when he saw me, eyes widening. "Cat, wow..." he whispered softly, his expression filled with awe. "You look gorgeous."

I could feel the heat rise in my face. "Oh...thank you. Where are we going?"

Liam shook his head as though coming to his senses. I noticed that he didn't seem able to keep his eyes off of me, the idea of which made my heart soar. "Somewhere unique."

He held out his hand in an almost reverent way, and I took it with a smile.

Ignoring Steph's squeal, I closed the door.

**********

Liam drove me out to the beautiful rolling hills that lined the water, sunlight glittering off of the gentle waves. I waited for him to keep driving to where all of the restaurants were, but he parked near the beach and climbed out of the car.

Like a true gentleman, he opened my door for me and helped me out. "Take off your shoes," he said with a smile, already kicking off his own and pulling off his socks.

"What are we doing here?" I laughed, enjoying the tickle of the grass beneath my feet.

Before I could react, Liam swept me up in his arms and ran to the top of one of the hill, carrying me easily. "Dancing," he whispered in my ear, setting me down on the grass and taking my hands in his.

He spun me around to silent music, humming a beautiful tune. We laughed together as I tried to keep up with his graceful dancing, the stars showing up in the sky above us. Me, being the socially awkward one, tripped on my own feet and Liam caught me.

The moonlight lit up the right side of his face, the gentle lullaby of the water making me want to close my eyes and fall asleep in his arms right then.

Liam leaned closer to me, our noses almost touching. He smiled as my eyes fluttered closed and he pressed his lips gently against mine.

I expected to feel fireworks. My heart was supposed to feel like it was on fire. The waves were supposed to turn gold and the stars were supposed to explode.

But there was something missing. The sparks that I had been dreaming of weren't there. The fireworks barely fizzled. My heart was chilled at the lack of heat. The waves were black as night and the stars barely cared.

When he pulled away, I saw in his eyes that he didn't feel it either. But politely he continued to dance with me, still smiling.
