Romeo and Juliet (Actually Not Romeo) (Marhinki, Flesley, and Jovencorn)

Imagine Person A and Person B in the school play Romeo and Juliet. A quickly gets cast as Juliet, being a fantastic actor. But B is cast as a lesser character (possibly just "nurse" or "servant"- someone without an official name). A has endured kissing the person playing Romeo many times in practice. Finally it's the night the play is open. "Juliet" fakes her death. They wake to find that "Romeo" has "killed" themselves. A then mumbles "well, my problems are over", stands up, grab Person B by their arm (who was standing on the wing giving silent support to A), and pulls them into a passionate kiss.

Mari sighed. "Is this over yet?"

Joshua shoved her on the shoulder. "Hey, I don't like this any more than you do. I'm only following the script."

Mari rolled her eyes. "I know, I know. You'd rather be kissing David."

Joshua blushed. "Shut up."

Mari giggled. "You aren't denying it."

Matt walked over, adjusting part of his costume. "What's he not denying?"

"He'd rather be kissing David."

Matt began laughing. "I'm not surprised. Joshua's pretty much in love with him."

Joshua blushed a darker shade of red. "Shut up."

Matt stopped laughing, and thought for a moment. "You know, if you want, I can see if he'd be interested in going out with you."

Joshua looked up hesitantly. "You'd really do that?"

"Of course," Matt snickered. "Romeo."

Joshua groaned. "I'm going to go change back into normal clothes. I'll see you guys tomorrow night."

Mari and Matt waved as he headed backstage. Wes, one of the stagehands, walked up to Mari. "You ready for tomorrow night?"

"As long as you don't drop a stage light on my head, yes."

Wes giggled softly. "Well, I'm in control of curtains. If you need to talk to someone about that, Flitz is in charge of lighting."

Flitz waved from where he was working on the finishing touches on a set piece. "I promise not to kill anyone with the lights!"

Matt smiled and looked over at Wes. "You two are going out, right?"

"Me and Flitz? Yeah. We've been together a few months now. He's an amazing guy." Wes smiled as he watched Flitz.

Mari leaned over to Matt and whispered, "I'm pretty sure we're the only straight ones in our group of friends."

Matt snickered as Wes rolled his eyes. "Maybe. But you're also the only ones who are single. Well, not right now. But soon you will be. Because I've heard from a source that David is actually planning to ask Joshua out."

"And who's this mysterious source?"

Wes glanced behind him. "David. Last time we hung out, he told me he was planning to ask him out after the performance."

"Aww. That's great. Now I need to get out of this dress."

Wes and Matt watched as Mari walked off to the changing area. "You like her, don't you?"

Matt blushed and covered his face. "Yeah. And even though I know he's gay, it still hurts when Joshua kisses Mari. I wish it were me."

Wes squeezed Matt's shoulder. "Hey, he has no interest in her. And Mari doesn't like Joshua. You've got nothing to worry about. Go home. I'll see you tomorrow night."

Matt smiled. "Okay. I'll see you. Bye Flitz!"

Flitz smiled at him and waved with a paintbrush in one hand. Wes walked over to Flitz and wrapped his arms around his waist. "Hey."

Flitz smiled and placed his hands over Wes's. "Hey. You wanna help me finish this set? After this I'll be finished."

Wes gave Flitz a quick kiss on the cheek, and grabbed a paintbrush. "Sure."

Mari winced internally as she kissed Joshua. "Thus from my lips, by thine, my sin is purged."

She began reciting the next part. "Then have my lips the sin that they took."

"Sin from thy lips? O trespass sweetly urged." Joshua leaned in and kissed her, but they both resisted slightly. Mari sighed internally when she looked to the side of the stage to Matt, who was staring at a script.

Matt looked up and smiled at her. She smiled back, playing it off as smiling at Joshua to stay in character.

Near the end of the performance, Mari got a great idea. She stayed as still as she could while faking her death.

Once Joshua died as Romeo, she fluttered her eyes open and stared at the "corpse". She bit back a smirk and said, "Well, my problems are over."

She grabbed Matt's arm, who had been innocently watching from the side of the stage, and pulled him into a kiss.

Matt stood still for a few seconds in shock, but then began to kiss her back.

Was rolled his eyes and shut the curtains. Joshua sat up and smirked. "Nice alternative ending. But does that mean Juliet was cheating on Romeo until their death?"

Mari blushed (even though it was hard to tell through the makeup she wore). "Maybe. Only with the cutest servant."

After curtain call, while everything was chaotic and everyone was changing back to normal clothing, David ran out on the stage. "Hey, Joshua, do you maybe want to go to dinner sometime?"

Joshua blushed brightly and grinned. "I'd love to."

David grinned back and kissed him on the cheek. Joshua gently held David's face and leaned down to kiss him on the lips. David blushed, but wrapped his arms around Joshua's neck.

Wes and Flitz grinned at each other as they pushed set off the stage. "I told you Joshua!" Wes yelled.

Joshua flipped him off, but smiled gratefully at him. Wes rolled his eyes and shoved the set piece.

Mari and Matt were sitting in the back, just talking. "I still don't understand why you did that."

Mari shrugged. "Well I think the audience liked it. Besides, it was an excuse to kiss you."

Matt blushed and kissed her cheek. "I'll take that as a compliment."

Mari giggled. "You should. It is one. If I have any regrets, it's not kissing you sooner."

Matt pulled her face to his and kissed her.

"You two gonna stop making out and help clean up?"

Mari rolled her eyes as she and Matt parted. "Can't let us have a moment, can you Flitz?"

Flitz smirked and leaned on a set. "Nope. Now you two should go get out of your costumes."

Matt and Mari hopped off the old set and headed to the back. "We're going, we're going."

Flitz rolled his eyes and walked out to help take down other sets.
