~Hailey~
It still felt like autumn as a cold chill brushed across my skin.
For Scott's meal I'd chosen to wear designer skinny black jeans- much like the ones Jenna had worn minus the slits, and a sophisticated blouse top that showed just the right amount of cleavage. My shoes were four inch strappy heels and my black handbag matched the outfit nicely.
The pub where Scott had chosen to have his meal wasn't too far away from where he lived. It was set back from a small country lane and had a small car park which was mostly empty. The location itself wasn't anything magnificent, although the building had a traditional look to it and I just knew it would be really warm and cosy inside. It had that vibe.
I brushed my arms against the cold. Personally, I thought it was a strange venue to host a meal, but Scott had always been very down to earth regardless of his wealth, so I knew better than to say anything. It was one of the things I loved about him and was also a characteristic I didn't have and admired.
As I continued to wait I had nothing to do or look at except for Tristan's obnoxious BMW coupled with Scott's jaguar (which he rarely used) and a few other sports cars. All of them looked tremendously out of place in the car park.
Most of those who'd been invited were already inside - including the girls. But I was waiting for Layla who had agreed to help me get through the night. She was late, hence my standing outside alone like a loser.
When she eventually pulled up in her cute pale yellow Mini (which was much more down to earth), for the first time that night I wasn't nervous.
"Sorry I'm late!" She squeaked as she climbed out wearing a formal maxi dress. Scott had told us to wear a more casual dress style so I was surprised to see her wearing something quite so... well, formal.
"It's alright," I told her as she neared. I didn't have time to question her on it though as she grabbed my arm and hustled me inside.
The pub was just as I'd thought it would be. The bar was rectangular, taking up the centre space of the pub, and tables and booths were scattered around the edges, mirroring the shape of the bar. The ceilings were low, which created a more intimate atmosphere and the walls were a deep burgundy with various old fashioned paintings of landscapes hung on them for decoration.
I thought the walls complemented the dark brown fabric seats and tables perfectly, although Layla didn't like it which she remarked as we carried on walking.
I noticed the air was slightly stale but was mostly pleasant as the scent of freshly cooked food hit me - including the smell of smoked bacon and chips. I loved smoked bacon. Unsurprisingly, I could also smell alcohol which wasn't as strong as I thought it would be, much to my relief. We continued to make our way towards the back of the pub.
"I'm glad it's so warm," Layla remarked as we strode.
I nodded, releasing the clutch I had on one of my arms which was acting as if to fight away the cool air. "Me too."
Around us various couples and middle class men sat in groups nursing glasses of beer; gulping down stacked plates of fried deliciousness, or talking amongst themselves. When we reached the back wall, I was surprised to see about six tables had been pulled together, taking up the width of the room.
A lot more people were here for Scott's meal than I'd initially thought there would be, including people I recognised from our lectures. There were even a few people that I didn't recognise. Jenna and a few of her friends (much to my irritation) were also here as well as Tristan; their mutual friends and of course, the girls.
