Chapter 32
Her POV

Like last time, we woke up early and hit the road, wantin' to get Morgan back to Alexandria before night hit.

I am still very tired. I didn' sleep much last night. I just kept thinkin' what would happen to everyone if I had died yesterday. If a walker had eaten me, what would happen to Maggie if I had died? Would she be able to move on from this loss? Like daddy? I know she'd have Glenn, but I still never know. What about Daryl? Would he move on, like nothin' happened?

Eventually I got to sleep, but I was woken up by the sound of Daryl movin' around in the room. After that, I never got back to sleep.

We're only 'bout a quarter of the way back to Alexandria. Still got at least fifty one miles left to ride. Daryl is focused very carefully on the road, and I can hear Aaron's car still behin' us. As well as a few walkers every now an' then.

It's getting colder outside more an' more everyday. The cool air is whippin' against my face when Daryl speeds up. I think he likes to drive fast, since there's no actual laws anymore. I laugh a little at the thought of Daryl drivin' the right speed limit.

We keep travelin' down this long road, makin' a few turns here an' there. Eventually, I feel myself start to drift off into the comfort of Daryl's leather wings.

Rick's POV

I walk down the pathway, with my jacket in hand. I keep gettin' looks of fear, anger, hate, an' disgust all at once. I guess thats what happens when you become part of such a sheltered community an' then beat the livin' shit outta their doctor.

I honestly don' care, he shouldn' a been abusin' his wife. He's lucky to still have one....

My boots continue to clop along the stone sidewalk, makin' my way to this little meetin' about me. Whether or not to throw me outta the community. I don' really care if they do, they can struggle on their own when they realize what is really out there. I just don't wanna mess up the one possible safe place for my family.

I love them all, an' I just want them to be safe, an' I know that they would wanna leave with me an' not make me go alone. It honestly causes me to worry sometimes.

The sun is settin' more an' more as I walk further down towards the meetin' point. Walkin' past one of the houses I here somethin' comin' from the back yard. Instinctually, I put my jacket on, allowin' me to grab my pistol outta the holster an' go runnin' into the back yard.

I start lookin' around an' I find nothin' at first. Then I hear it again. That so dreaded moanin' noise that I hate so much, but after a few days inside these walls its sounds like beautiful music. That sweet familiar sound. Like a song that you listen to so often, it starts to get annoyin' but you love it anyway.

I make my way closer to the noise. Waitin' for somethin', anythin' to come and greet me. I whip around the corner of a house an' see two walkers standin' there. I quickly put my pistol away, and pull out my knife not wantin' to make too much noise.

The one walker sees me an' starts stumblin' towards me. I grab it behind the neck an' dig my knife into its mushy skull. I go to pull it out, in order to end the next one, but its stuck. Reachin' for my pistol, the other walker knocks me down. It's now on top of me, snappin' its jaws. Tryin' to take a bite outta my warm flesh.

I stick my pistol in its mouth, an' put it further an' further in hopin' that this will keep the noise down.

Eventually, I pull the trigger. Lettin' out a bang, but one that's quieter than normal. Blood flies all over my face as I push the walker off of my body.
