Everything hurts.

"Ella? Can you hear me?" Mom?

"Does she need some water?" The nurse?

Yes. Water. I need water. No words escape my lips.

Please? My throat hurts. I'm dizzy. My head is pounding. Can you hear me?

Silence.

Charlie. I need to see him. Is he okay? I already know the answer.

I feel myself slipping. Slipping, slipping, slipping into a state of subconscious. The world around me quietens and I'm pulled back in time...

"Can you catch me?" he smirked. That small smirk sent shivers down my spine, it was so inviting.

"That's really high up" I shouted from below. I could barely see my hands in front of me. We were at the park and it was completely dark. The warm air coated me like a blanket and I could hear the crickets in the distance.

"The view is literally perfect Ella," he sighed, "I'm not taking 'no' for an answer."

"The view? It's 11:30 PM Charlie and you're surrounded by branches" I said playfully.

"Ellaaa" he pleaded. I could barely make out his dark outline from above. His head tilted upward and I could see the moonlight drink up his skin. I don't think anyone could ever look the way he did. He was something else. I breathed a heavy sigh and extended my arm for him to grab hold of.

Gripping at bark was not my forte but with several slips and my arm muscles trembling, I managed to climb to where Charlie was sitting and place myself in his lap. I leaned back, setting my head on his chest. His scent washed over me, sending a wondrous intoxication through my body. I felt my eyes flutter until they closed.

It was so peaceful. Our very own secret spot. In this very moment, we were untouchable. I laced my fingers through his and gave his hand a tight squeeze. I turned to face him, finding him looking up at the dazzling stars that scattered across the sky like jewels thrown and left suspended in air.

He looked at me intensely. I could feel his gaze burn through my eyes. I watched them pour over each detail of my face. His eyes trailed...from my eyes...to my nose...to my lips. They stopped there.

"Charl-" I breathed.

"Shhh..." he cut me off and took my face in his hands. Is he going to...

And then he kissed me.

His lips found a rhythm with mine and our lips danced in sync. His tongue found its way around my lower lip, sending a spark of electricity through me. I turned my head and softly bit at the corner of his lip. I felt colorful swirls through my stomach, through my lungs, and through my lips. These swirls enveloped me in an unfamiliar, desirable way. My mind went blank, all I could see was black with millions of colors splashed across it. His lips pulled away from mine slowly. And the dizziness eventually subsided.

Our first kiss. God it was so unbelievably and breathtakingly phenomenal.

And then I woke up.
