The, oh so rude, interruption came from a group of men that had been standing there, just watching us... We turned around not sure what to expect but I could hear the guys in the back snickering on about what they wanted to do to Valerie. That sent me off edge; I was becoming protective over her.

"Get behind me" I said to her with my voice as stern as possible.
She gave me this look, telling me that she can handle herself. I wouldn't let her get hurt because of me, not again, I won't let that happen. I tried to stand in front of her but every time she would just push me out of her way. She stood there, the most confident I had ever seen her, she wasn't the slightest bit scared of these men. One of the men must have grown impatient because he lunged towards us.

Almost automatically he was socked in the jaw and then kicked in the groan, I was confused as to who did it that was until I saw Valerie in a fighters stance. She looked at me and tried to mimic my 'famous smirk' everyone's always telling me about. I'm guessing she noticed me not doing anything because she gave me this look telling me to help her fight or leave. I got into my fighters stance, for the second time today, both times involved Valerie.

She's just, I don't know what to think, she's different compared to everyone I've ever met but I feel like I already know her from somewhere. Valerie had probably already knocked out three of the five men while I was still working on my first. His punches were hard and they took a lot out of you when they actually made contact with you. Valerie I guessed had finished off the fourth man because she came over and with one kick to the face the man was knocked out.

"Where in the hell did you learn to fight?" I asked her out of breath

"I started boxing while we were still in elementary school" She said like it was no big deal, then I realized something, we...

"Wait, we?" I asked in a somewhat confused tone.

"We went to elementary school together, we were best friends... I figured you forgot me" She said with her face showing the she was hurt.

"Wait a minute, LaLa?" I asked with an almost ecstatic smile

"Yep, hey Jo..." She said with a slight smile.

I grabbed her and pulled her into a hug, I couldn't stop smiling. Finally I had my best friend back!
